A. What Have I Learned So Far?

If I were to choose three (3) small businesses from the list we have discussed, I
would choose Sari-sari Store, Online Selling Business, and Cellphone Loading. I chose
Sari-sari Store to be on top of the list because I think that almost everywhere in our
community, you can see a sari-sari store which is very helpful and accessible to the people
for their daily necessities. Secondly, even when it was still the old normal, online selling
was flourishing, and it booms even more when the pandemic started. Change is constant
as they say, even when it comes to shopping or buying things especially that technology
grows faster. And for that reason, I believe that online selling business is one of the most
appealing business for me during these times. And last but not the least, the third business
I have chosen is the cellphone loading. As what I have said earlier, technology grows faster,
and people tend to cope up with these changes in the new normal. Moreover, I interest in
cellphone loading business especially that we communicate through texting or basically
through our phone so this kind of business would be a great one to start with. The three
types of small businesses I have mentioned above also have three (3) similarities that I
consider when I chose them. We can start these businesses within our area or home and
with only small amount of capital unlike other businesses to start with that costs us
hundreds of thousands or even millions. Other than that, these types of businesses are very
helpful to the people within the community to access and provide them their basic needs
for their everyday lives.

B. Go Online

Tala by Kyla
1. What made him/her decide to start this business?
Kyla Cañete, the 21-year-old CEO, was already into selling jewelry since
she was in high school. She started to sell chokers and hair clips back then, and
with the help and motivation of her mother, who was already in the jewelry
business, Kyla decided to start her own business which is the Tyla by Kyla (TBK).
2. Did he/she also start being an employee?
Just like how common businessmen started, Kyla also started being the only
employee of her own business. She was a one-woman staff, and all the work and
responsibilities were all done by her. From managing, advertising, packing,
marketing, and delivering her products were handled by Kyla.
3. What made him/her choose this particular brand or type of business?
As what I have mentioned earlier, her mother was already in the jewelry
business. Kyla grew interest and love in jewelry, enjoys what she does especially
when designing jewelries, and started her own jewelry business at a young age with
the help of her mother.
4. What are few challenges he/she faces as he/she operates the business?
At first, she started as a one-woman staff and handled all the work that needs
to be done for her small business. Moreover, there are struggles when starting a
small business such as receiving only a single order for the day and Kyla also
experienced it.
5. What is his/her philosophy when it comes to operating a business?
Kyla believes that when it comes to operating a business, you should listen
not only to what are your own interests, but also to what other people likes and
listen to their suggestions. She makes sure that the pieces her team create are
connected and fit to everyone. And lastly, she believes that when you love and
enjoy the work you do, you cannot feel that you are working or doing a job, just
like what the famous quote says.
