Science and technology's importance in our past should be self-evident. Our
modern society would not exist as we know it without science and technology.
During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, science and
technology had a profound impact on our civilization. Humankind has always
been inquisitive, from the beginning of time man strive to improve ways and
quality of life. Primitive humans created tools and a rational system of
activities to secure their existence. Technology is what we have today as a
result of the application of knowledge, skills, and tools.
In today's world, the Philippines' need to improve its science and technology is
widely acknowledged as one of the imperatives of socio-economic growth.
Science and technology developed separately in the past, with the latter
typically being the result of trial and error in answer to a speci c human need.
Science and technology, on the other hand, have grown increasingly
intertwined in modern times. The advancement of modern technologies has
aided many scienti c breakthroughs. New scienti c understanding has
frequently resulted in the improvement of current technologies or the
development of totally new ones.
It is commonly believed that learning is enhanced through the use of
technology and that students need to develop technology skills to be
productive members of society. For this reason, providing a high-quality
education includes the expectation that teachers use educational technologies
effectively in their classrooms and that they teach their students to use
technology. This aligns with the science and technology objectives of the K-12
basic education curriculum. Students' scienti c literacy will be developed for

them to become educated and active citizens capable of making judgments


and decisions regarding scienti c knowledge applications that may have
social, health, or environmental implications.
As science educators, we must create activities that will help students
accomplish the science and technology goals outlined in the K-12 Basic
Education Curriculum. Science and engineering should be studied by our
students for them to have a better understanding of the world and to
participate as educated citizens in a democratic society. Participating in
scienti c and technological activities develops talents and thinking
techniques. It may be utilized to make well-informed personal decisions,
engage responsibly in civic life, improve and sustain environmental health, and
prepare students for careers in science and technology.
