WTM 4800 Dual Channel. This is also a double-transceiver, all-outdoor radio (TRTR) but supports a single channel of 80
GHz E-band, and 1 channel of microwave.
It provides microwave options of 15, 18, and 23 GHz. And supports modulation levels up to 4096 QAM, and 112 MHz
channel bandwidth on microwave.
Slide notes: WTM 4000 Installation with External DC Power. A simple mobile back-haul configuration may look as the
graphic shown. In this case, the user requires some Carrier Ethernet features and adaptive modulation. The user also
chooses DC supply for the WTM 4100 radios, and so between the customer equipment and the WTM 4100 there is a DC
power cable and an Ethernet cable for traffic. Note, the maximum distance between customer equipment and WTM 4100
is limited by the performance of the Ethernet cable, that is, 100m.
Slide notes: WTM 4000 Installation with PoE. A basic Enterprise configuration may look as the graphic shown here. In this
case, the user requires PoE operation, no CE features, and no specific radio features like Adaptive Modulation or MLHC.
Note the maximum distance supported between the PoE injector and the WTM 4100 for powering via PoE is 100m, ie the
standard distance supported for Ethernet traffic on industry standard Cat-5e cable.
Slide notes: WTM 4000 System Hardware Architecture. The WTM4K user interfaces are: 2x 10/100/1000Base-T (RJ-45)
fixed ports, one port is optional PoE; 2x optional SFP ports - 1, 2.5 or 10 Gigabit per second SFPs; a DC Power Supply
input, positive 24/-48 Volts DC (SELV rated, or Safety Extra Low Voltage) - wide-mouth; a USB Console Maintenance
Port; and a Receive Signal Indicator using dual voltmeter pins.
Slide notes: WTM 4100 1+0 Implementation. The WTM 4100 is the single-radio full-outdoor microwave solution. The
WTM 4100 1+0 terminal can support up to 1.25 Gigabits per second capacity; that is, on a single channel operation, at
112 Mega Hertz channel bandwidth. It comes with 4096 QAM modem and a 50 Gbps Layer 2/ Layer 3 switch. It also
includes two Gigabit Ethernet electrical ports and two SFP ports capable of 10GE operation, with a single transceiver and
diplexer.
With this implementation, it can support up to 2.5 Gbit/s capacity. Minimum spacing is equal to the adjacent channel while
maximum spacing must be within range of fitted diplexer. It uses a single transceiver and diplexer, with no antenna
coupler/OMT. This implementation is for co-pole operation only.
Slide notes: WTM 4200 with Integrated Coupler - Single Polarity. The WTM 4200 is the dual-radio full-outdoor microwave
solution. Like WTM 4100, it comes with 4096QAM modem, 50Gbps L2/L3 switch, two GE electrical ports and two SFP
ports capable of 10GE operation.
Where it differs from WTM 4100 is that it has two complete and independent radio modules inside. With specially
designed diplexer-combiners, WTM 4200 can offer dual-polarity configurations like CCDP XPIC and ACAP, or single
polarity ACCP configurations. With ACCP (or Alternate Channel, Co-Polar), two channels are used on the same polarity
(Horizontal or Vertical), and either immediately adjacent or at some wider spacing.
Using the WTM 4200 with Integrated Coupler - Single Polarity implementation, it can support up to 2.5 Gbit/s capacity.
Minimum spacing is equal to the adjacent channel while maximum spacing must be within the same diplexer sub-band
range. It uses an internal 3dB coupler (co-pole) and delivers full RF performance.
Slide notes: WTM 4200 with Integrated OMT - Dual Polarity. WTM 4200 can offer dual-polarity configurations like CCDP
XPIC and ACAP.
For CCDP (Co-Channel, Dual Polarity), two channels are used at the same time, on the same frequency, but on opposite
polarities. It utilizes XPIC technology to cancel out the unwanted signal. Often, CTR+ODU600 or Eclipse+ODU600 is
configured this way, with two ODU600 radios operating on the same frequency with an OMT coupler between them
connected to a dual polarity antenna. In this case, WTM 4200 provides the complete solution in one box with NO external
OMT required.
For ACAP (Alternate Channel, Alternate Polarity), two channels operate on opposite polarities and at some channel
spacing >1, that is, they do not occupy the same channel. Often, in multi-channel networks, the channels will be located
immediately adjacent to each other.
Slide notes: 1 + 0 / Space Diversity. One WTM 4500 unit is used to achieve a 1 + 0, SD configuration.
The first RF port of the WTM connects to a top antenna via a flexible wave guide.
The second RF port of the WTM connects to the second antenna via either a flexible wave guide or a coaxial cable.
This configuration can achieve up to 1.2 Gbps capacity using space diversity, with full RF performance.
Slide notes: 2 + 0 / Space Diversity. Two WTM 4500 units are used to achieve the 2 + 0 SD configuration.
Each unit will connect to a separate antenna.
This configuration can achieve up to 2.5 Gigabits per second capacity using Space diversity.
Slide notes: WTM 4100 and WTM 4200 have the option of being powered by Power-over-Ethernet or using an external
DC power source.
PoE injectors are available for use with WTM 4100. They are rated to 75W and will drive up to 100m of CAT5e connected
to the WTM 4100. There are two options for external PoE: the 100 to 240 VAC PoE Injector or the 36 to 72 VDC PoE
Injector. You may also use a POE card from a Switch / Router, such as the CTR.
WTM 4100 and WTM 4200 are delivered with the DC power connector already inserted, with jumpers connected for PoE
operation. Note, the jumper must be inserted for PoE to work, and should only be inserted or removed when PoE is
disconnected.
Where DC connection is used, instead of PoE operation, then remove the DC power connector, remove the jumpers and
wire the power cable as per the instructions in the WTM 4000 user manual. The connections are shown on the diagram.
Slide notes: WTM4K Licensing. Within WTM 4000, software-based license keys are used to enable groupings of Carrier
Ethernet features, specific radio features and switch capacity. There is no pluggable media device to hold licenses (like
the flash card on CTR) - so licenses are keyed directly to the WTM serial number. As standard, license keys are not
downloaded onto the product prior to shipment.
At power-on, ALL licensed features are enabled for customer use, for a period of 60 days. After 60-days operation, the
terminal will revert to those features that have license keys loaded. If the terminal is powered off, the 60-day “countdown”
will be paused during that non-operational period.
Slide notes: WTM4K Licensed Ethernet Functions. WTM 4100 and WTM 4200 have a range of Carrier Ethernet feature
licenses, such as: Standard management and administration, including CLI, Logging, HTTPS Access, DNS Client,
Alarms, SNMPv2 agent, RMONv1/2, and in-band NMS; Also included is Routed NMS support; IPv4 and IPv6 (TCP, UDP,
ARP, ICMP, Ping, Traceroute); VLAN (802.1Q) / Q-in-Q (IEEE 802.1ad);
SyncE and 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol Transparent Clock (PTP TC); QoS with 8 queues / Traffic Scheduling (Strict
Priority, Weighted Round Robin, and Hybrid); Ingress traffic policing; Port Mirroring; Link Aggregation Group (LAG) and
Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP); and, Multi-Layer Header Compression (MLHC).
Slide notes: WTM4K Management. There are two ways to manage the WTM 4000. 1. by using the CLI (command line
interface), or 2. by using a web browser GUI (graphical user interface). The following are the factory default
configurations: IP Address is 1 92 dot 1 68 dot 1 dot 1. For VLAN, all ports are untagged, members of VLAN 1 and
configured as access ports. TX Mute is enabled by default. And the default username is admin, and password, admin.
