Conclusion about Matisse’s Color (200 words)

EMOTIONS THROUGH COLORS

Upon reflecting on what Henry Matisse wrote in his “Notes of a Painter” in 1908
where he opens up his ideas towards art and exposes his strategies on bringing his
color compositions, figures and proportion, I have come to realize the perspective that
he is presenting through his pieces. To sum it up, Matisse elucidates his works by
displaying vibrant and bold colors, it is because these colors depict the expressiveness
of the soul. As he said, his color choices don’t follow any scientific theory, for he follows
what he was able to discern in the natural state of things. Matisse doesn’t just paint art,
he lets people see emotions through his colors, as to how colors exhibit a variety of
senses and feelings. He takes his own path not a conventional route, as he keeps in
mind his main purpose why he chose to portray harmonized colors in his artworks. He
believes that in representing great subjects on certain work, it should come along with
being true on his own emotion. Thus, Matisse uses colors for the reason that he bases
his art not on what it is supposed to be, but on what he thinks it should become.
