Admin and Supervision – FINAL EXAM

1. Administration is the process of overseeing a company's overall performance. It is concerned with

managing different departments, ensuring that goals are achieved. Supervision is a managerial
process that involves monitoring a person's performance.
2. The annual implementation plan outlines: the one-year targets to identify progress towards the targets
for improved student outcomes identified in the school strategic plan. the actions that will be
undertaken in order to implement the key improvement strategies and significant projects.
School improvement Planning is a process by which members of the school – community conducts a
thorough evaluation of their school’s educational programming in the previous school years and the
development of a written school plan that: • establishes the starting point for ongoing evaluation of
efforts and • unifies independently organized school improvement efforts from various areas of the
total school program into a single, focused process.
3. Planning is the process of thinking about the activities required to achieve a desired goal. It is the first
and foremost activity to achieve desired results. It involves the creation and maintenance of a plan,
such as psychological aspects that require conceptual skills.

 Adopt Smart School Administration
Schools administrators should implement smart administration to improve efficiency and enhance
professionalism in school administration.
 Promote a Stress-Free Student Environment
School managements must develop a stress-free culture. An effectively organized school incorporates
biweekly interactive activities that improve teaching and overall management.
 Adopt an Effective Classroom Management
Classroom management refers to addressing the problem of overcrowding in learning rooms. School
administrators should ensure that they collect accurate data that is efficient in spreading students and
teachers proportionately.
 Manage Your Staff/Teachers
Your school staff teaches, evaluate, and discipline students. They contribute to the overall student
achievement and discipline levels. For instance, underqualified teachers can contribute to creating an
uncontrolled environment that can frustrate school management efforts. Therefore, it is essential to
invest in developing a team of qualified teachers who can raise the standards of an institution. The
school must adopt policies and strategies to check teacher’s qualifications and ascertain their
licensing.
 Schedule School Holidays and LeavesCalendar enables school administrators to schedule
school holidays in advance before starting a new school year. It has an inbuilt calendar
denoting all students, parents, and teachers about these holidays/festivals. School stockholders
can, therefore, plan for these holidays to avoid confusion and absenteeism from school.

7. The principal as the chief executive of schools has multifarious tasks to accomplish for
successful administration of the school system. Amadeker (2005) describes the functions and roles of
the school principal as ‘head teacher, principal, leader of the school, school father adviser, chief
administrative executive, public relation officer, curriculum director, innovator, policy maker,
organizer, communicator, school authority educator, perfectionist and philosopher. In the same vein,
Ezeocha (2000) sees the functions of the principal as supervision of instructions, curriculum
development, aid evaluation, school community relations, and management of school finance, staff
and student personnel administration.
Bernard and Goodyear (2000) posit that the principal is a standard setter, one who leads in
the development of an aspiration and expectation on the part of both teachers and pupils to do good
work. He assists the teachers with their problems of improving methods, materials and evaluation and
thus provides a good measure of quality control. Principals can help teachers improve their testing
techniques and develop their ability to analyze and interpret data. The principal as an administrator
needs to possess certain administrative skills to effectively perform his duty. Several studies have
discussed the administrative roles of principals. (Bennel, 2004) states that within the secondary
school system, the principal stands out as the chief executive of the school, he is also the school
administrator, the instructional leader, the personnel manager for both the pupils (students) and staff
personnel.
