Guidance on ENGL 214 Report Titles

Please ensure that your report title adheres to the following, or it will not be approved:

1. The title must be framed in one of the following rhetorical modes:

o a problem/solution
An Examination of the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Tackling Cross-border
Financial Crime on the Island of Ireland.

o an argument
Why the European Union Should Follow the United States in Decoupling from
China.

o a comparison
Social and Economic Effects of Joining the Euro: A Comparison of Germany
and Italy.

2. The title must not be too general (e.g. Eurozone); rather it should be specific (e.g.
Overcoming Economic Stagnation in the Eurozone).

3. The title must not be framed as a question.


For example, this is not acceptable: How Can the Netherlands Prevent More Dutch
Multinationals like Unilever Decamping to Brexit Britain?

4. The title must clearly link your major to the course theme.

5. The title must adhere to APA titling conventions (see the Report 1 PPT).

6. The title must not be a title with a self-evident, obvious or predictable answer.
For example, this is not acceptable:
A Comparison of Horse-Drawn Carriages and Petroleum-Powered Automobiles in
20th Century France.
