This is the supply chain management for Optimal DMW, the company is

based in Arlington Virginia, the company also has he online presence. The
company has many services being offered such as travel arrangements,
Technology support and personal assistance services. The company uses
both Pull vs Push system, in the push system, the products are pushed
through the channels from production to retail and this means that the
production happens based on the demand of the company. In the pull based
supply chain, production, procurement, distribution is all demand driven,
instead of being based on forecast, this also means that the company goods
are produced when needed. The approach has limits in the WIP, because it
starts production when the WIP has not been reached, and this means that in
a pull system, all of the WIP are already in the queue. The push system
forecasts on demand and also employs material requirement planning, to
produce goods ahead of time, the company also takes advantage of the pull
system that is dependent on the limitations of WIP. The pull system is
therefore useful for companies that deal with high demand uncertainty and
low importance in economies of scale.

On top of the pull and pull approaches to supply chain, the company also
uses custom-configured model, this approach allows for the effective
production to various customers, the model helps the company to manage
their diversity, starting with Travel Arrangements, Transportation, Tech
Support, and Personal Assistance Services. The company also employs an
agile supply model when there is increase in demand, in some areas than in
others, the model is mainly applied in the transport sector. The supply chain
for DMV has three players, customers, bankers and third parties like banks
and other marketing agencies.
For customers, orders are placed directly at the Optimal DMV’s offices, this is
done through the website application. When the order is taken, the order is
processed at the order control unit, to confirm when the payments have been
made, the order is then channeled to the various departments that are
involved and the resources needed for the services assembled at the
production control unit. The employees are then assigned tasks, they are then
equipped and given a go ahead to perform their various duty. The commercial
services are also offered by the organization, and they include cleaning, the
orders are all made online. Customer feedback are all channeled through the
Optimal DMV’s website.

The company uses a mixture of vertical and functional organization structure.

Functional organization structure is the most common, in this structure, the
departments are based on the common job functions. Businesses with this
king of structure would for example, group all marketers in one department.
For example, in DMV, all accountants are on one department, there is a
department for cleaning services and tech support, all travel arrangements
have also been grouped in another department. Sales representatives are all
in a different department. The advantage of this approach is that it allows for
high degree of specialization amongst the employees, the departments are
also easily scalable. It also facilitates clear accountability among the
employees. Each department has well defined responsibilities, ensuring that
there is no duplication of duty amongst employees. DMV when using
functional approach may however suffer when the organization is too
diversified, it may also create barriers within different functions, thus limiting
employees communication with other departments. The work can be also
being rigid and repetitive and this may lead to loss of morale among the
employees.
