no control of events
currently waiting for DGSI communication

For process computers, contact David Arnold

David-F289732 Arnold/FR/EU/MICHELIN

Restriction concerns only storage devices known as

« USBSTOR »
Mostly memory sticks and USB drives, but some USB devices are
set as USBSTOR by manufacturer mistake

Génaël ANDRE
DEV/MTH/MA
Communication MTH/MA 07 / 2015
JM Moal (MTH/BE)

For office computers, 3 policies will be

implemented (thru SEP)

1. Blocked : all USBSTOR devices will be blocked => final target for
all office computers

2. Restricted : only a few USBSTOR devices allowed, depending on

a list of signatures – USB drives (temporarily), encrypted memory
sticks, dongles …
o Full list : https://michelin.bluekiwi.net/space/in/USB_Initiative/home

3. Open : no restriction (as today), strongly challenged by DGSI/EP

How to check if a device will be blocked ?

In Win 7 control panel, select device

Right click « properties »

« details » tab

If access path starts with USBSTOR the device connection will be

blocked by SEP if not in the exception list

Guide lines proposals for engineering

All automation guys to get an encrypted memory stick : mostly to
download programs in level 0 hardware, and for exchanges with
maintenance technicians

Request policy « Restricted » for engineering department during first

phase, then only for automation engineers (other in « Blocked »)
when Michelin group data back up solution will be implemented.

For office computer back-up use a Sbox drive on M: server (prepare

for USB drive banning) and FreeFileSync software (SCCM)

Encrypted memory stick supply : contact Daniel Pitto (DGSI/EP) to

get the process explanation – Manager has to decide wether or not
purchase those devices for his team.

Pack Auto 2014 = 6 Giga Bytes
Pack Auto 2016 = 50-60 Giga Bytes

Pack Auto 2016 = 6 packages, one for each supplier :

Each package contains a common interface to Install/Uninstall

software.

Easy to add a new supplier if necessary, Updates can be done for one
supplier without modifying others packages

You download what you need, ex: Rockwell + ControlTechniques

In SCCM, if you already have access to pack auto 2014, you’ll find 4
packages (June 2016) :

(Before, you’ll have to Uninstall Pack Auto 2014 and Uninstall software :
FTView 6.1, RsLogix5000 16.03, 20.04,Common Software,…)
The 2 last packages will be available for people who send a request to

Step7/WinccFlex/TIA Portal dans Pack Auto ?

Tia Portal v13 SP1 : Yes

Old Soft will be not included in the Pack Auto. We collected them
and you can download them from MA FTP Server.

Génaël ANDRE
DEV/MTH/MA
Communication MTH/MA 07 / 2015
Before designing the Pack Auto 2016 :
- No history to assess the development and necessary IT skills
- No analysis to propose alternative deployment
- MA FTP server has too much restrictions in term of bandwidth and
number of connections
- Storage through SCCM is still a good international option

Result :
We managed the study respecting the same perimeter than Pack Auto
2014, including FANUC and SIEMENS.

Potential Issue : Installations use 3x Disk Space :

SCCM cache, BUSDATA, Program Files (x86)

Génaël ANDRE
Communication MTH/MA 07 / 2015 20
DEV/MTH/MA
For 2017, next Pack Auto :
- USB restriction permits to have more easy storage you can share
Number of suppliers and software evolution are too important to
manage them in a package within common interface
FT View 8.2 available, Soon Tia Portal V14, Studio 5000 v29…
(heavy updates, IT Skills necessary)
- IHM and Automation network needs more attention as we support
Rockwell, Siemens, FANUC, IO Link,...

Proposal :
Installer and executable files could be shared through DocShare or
Partner Share, no silent install, no interface, we will just run software
natively.
In CFE, large number of engineers already installed Studio 5000 and
FT View 8.1 on their laptop without Pack Auto, people are not
disturbed.
