Uploading Data

 You can upload the actual configuration data of the NE to the EMS database, and
cover the data of the EMS database.
 In the Topology Management window, right-click an NE, and select Data
Synchronization from the shortcut menu.
 On the Upload tab, and select the data item from the Upload Data Item area.

Comparing Data

 You can compare the configuration data of the NE with the data of the
EMS to use comparison results for NE maintenance.
 On the Compare tab, select the NE from the Please select NE(s) list.
 Select the data item from the Compare Data Item area.
 Click Compare.

Downloading Data

 You can download the data of the EMS database to the actual NE to cover the
data of the NE.
 On the Download tab, select the NE from the Please select NE(s) list.
 Select the data item from the Download Data Item area.
 Click Download.

Configuring the Automatic Uploading
Comparison Function
 This function supports the timely uploading comparison of the entire network.
 It compares the consistency of EMS data and device data.
 From the operation window of the U31 R22, select Maintenance > BN NE
Maintenance > consistency management > Auto Uploading Compare
Configuration.

Backing Up NE Data

 You can back up the configuration data of NEs to the local computer for the
subsequent restoration of historical data.
 In the Topology Management window, right-click the NE whose data is to be
backed up, and select Backup and Restore > Backup NE from the shortcut menu.

Restoring NE Data

 You can restore the backup configuration data to the equipment.


 Right-click the NE whose data is to be backed up, and select
Backup and Restore > Restore NE from the shortcut menu.

Clearing NCP Database
 You can clear the data saved in the main control board of the NE.
 After data is cleared, the main control board has no basic database.
 The main control board only keeps the IP addresses of the original NEs, and the
EMS can still monitor the NEs.
 From the NE Operation navigation tree, select NE Operation > NE Data
Management > Clear NCP Database.

Backup and Restoration Mode

 There are three modes to back up and restore data:


 U31 EMS
 Dbtool tool
 Offline tool

 The U31 EMS supports automatic and manual modes.


 In the dbtool tool mode, the dbtool is used to back up and
restore basic data.
 In the offline tool mode, the offline tool mode is used to back up
and restore the entire database structure, basic data, and files.

Backup Contents

 Entire database structure: Structures of all the databases used by


the EMS.
 Basic data: All the basic data of the EMS. Data records will be
backed up, rather than historical data.
 File: Version files, operation files, and configuration files of the
EMS.
 Log data: Operation logs, security logs, and system logs.
 Alarm data: Historical alarms and notifications.
 Performance data: Original performance data.

Backing Up the Entire DB Structure
 In most cases, this operation is required before you upgrade the system.
 From the main menu, select Maintenance > System Backup and
Restore.
 In the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup > Backup
Whole DB Structure.

Backing Up Basic Data

 The following databases are included:


 Transmission network configuration
 NE configuration
 End-to-end
 Common platform
 Common alarm
 Common performance

 From the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup > Backup Basic. Data.

Backing Up Files
 There are three types of files: version files, configuration files, and runtime files.
 From the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup > Backup File.
 Select data types in the Backup Content area.

Backing Up and Deleting Log Data
 You can back up and delete three types of logs: operation logs, system logs, and
security logs.
 In the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup > Backup and
Deletion Log Data.

 From the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup >
Backup and Deletion Alarm Data.

Backing Up and Deleting Performance Data

 The performance data that can be backed up and deleted includes the
original table, hour table, and daily table.
 From the Backup and Restore navigation tree, select Backup > Backup
and Deletion PM Data.

Backing Up Data With the dbtool

 On the engineering site, if the version of the EMS server is


updated, the dbtool can be used to back up basic data.
 The procedure is as follows:
 On the U31 server, enable the dbtool based on the type of the
operating system.
 Windows: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.bat
 Linux: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.sh
 Solaris: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.sh

 Set the related parameters.


 Click Login.
 From the dbtool navigation tree, select Backup EMS.
 Click Backup.

Backing Up Data With the Offline Tool

 On the U31 server, enable the offline restoration tool based on


the type of the operating system.
 Windows: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.bat
 Linux: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.sh
 Solaris: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.sh

 From the left Restore and Backup navigation tree, select Restore
and Backup > Backup Whole DB Structure .
 Click Browse on the right of the Select the backup file list, and
select a storage path for the backup files.
 Click Execute.

Restoring Basic Data
 To restore the basic data, the U31 R22 server needs to be stopped.
 From the Topology Management window, select Maintenance > System
Backup and Restore.
 Select Backup and Restore > Restore > Restoring Basic Data from the left
navigation tree.
 Click Start and select the backup file, then click Execute.

Restoring Data by the dbtool

 The dbtool can restore the data between different EMS versions,
databases, scales, and installation components.
 On the U31 server, enable the dbtool based on the type of the
operating system:
 Windows: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.bat
 Linux: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.sh
 Solaris: /ums-server/utils/dbtool/dbtool.sh

 Set the related parameters. click Login.


 In the dbtool navigation tree, select Restore EMS.

 On the U31 server, enable the offline restoration tool based on


the type of the operating system.
 Windows: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.bat
 Linux: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.sh
 Solaris: /ums-server/utils/usf-backup/run.sh

 From the left navigation tree, select Restore and Backup >
Restore Whole DB Structure .
 Click Execute.

System Monitoring

 The system monitoring module is used to monitor the servers


and database.
 Functions include:
 View and monitor the performance of the application server and database
server.
 View and monitor database resources.

 On the main menu of the U31 R22 client, select Maintenance >
System Monitor.

Configuring the Server Performance Monitor

 Set the monitoring thresholds of the CPU, memory, and hard disk.
If the practical values exceed the monitoring thresholds, alarm
messages are reported.
 From the Device Tree navigation tree, click Application Server
( ). Three areas are displayed in the right pane: Server
Performance Monitor, Server Performance View, and Server
Information.
 Click the Configure button in the Monitor Server Performance
area .
 Select a monitoring object, such as the CPU, memory, and hard
disc.

enable the performance monitor.

Database Server Monitor
 From the System Monitor navigation tree, select a database to
view the basic information of database server, including the
device name, device type, database type, database port, database
version, and host IP address.

Configuring the Database Resource Monitor

 You can configure the Database Resource Monitor to set the


thresholds of the hard disk space ,table space, and monitoring
period.
 From the System Monitor navigation tree, select a database
server.
 Three areas are displayed in the right pane, including Database
Resource Monitor, Query Database Resource, and Basic
Information of Database Server.
 Click the Configure button in the Database Resource Monitor
area.

start the database resource monitor.

Task Management

 The task management module is used to manage all scheduled


tasks.
 The system predefines five types of scheduled tasks:
 Historical Data Archiving
 Configuration Data Backup
 File and Database Backup
 File Clean-up
 Alarm Background Task

 The predefined four types of tasks, with preset parameters, will


be carried out automatically at the scheduled time.

 From the main menu of the U31 R22 client, select Maintenance
> Task Management > Show Timing Task.

Backing up and Deleting Log Data

 It is necessary to back up and delete log data regularly because


the increasing size of the database may influence the system
stability.
 From the left navigation tree in the Task Management window,
select Common Task > Historical Data Archiving > Log Data
Backup and Deletion Task.
 2. On the toolbar, click the button.
 3. Select the log type(s) to be backed up.
 4. Click the button.

Modifying Monitor Attributes
 In the Task Management window, select Common Task > File
Clear-up > Directory Monitoring.

Executing Monitoring Tasks Immediately

 1. From the left navigation tree in the Task Management


window, select Common Task > File Clean-up > Directory
Monitoring.
 2. Select Performance Query FTP Directory Monitoring from
the task list.
 3. Click the Instantly Execute button. The detailed information of
the monitoring task is displayed in the right pane.

Modifying the Task Starting Time
 1. From the main menu, select Maintenance > Task Management >
Modify Task Start Time. The Modify Task Start Time dialog box is
displayed.
 2. Select a task based in the Task Sort field.
 3. Click the button. The Modify Time dialog box is displayed.
 4. Set the start time, and click OK.
