Case scenario: Ralf, is a newly diagnosed patient with COVID-19, asymptomatic. The doctor
suggested to put him in self-quarantine for 14-days. He is quite confused about the case and his
management. The only thing he remembers is that he needs to comply to social distancing. But
everything else is vague. As a public health nurse what will be your purpose, goals and objectives in
developing a health education plan for Mr. Ralf.

PURPOSE Nurses play a key role in the public health response to such crises providing
adequate knowledge about COVID-19 and delivering direct information for
patient care and reducing the risk of exposure to the infectious disease. 
GOAL Getting prompt identification, voluntary isolation or quarantine, and monitoring
of a person diagnosed with COVID-19 and their contacts so we can effectively
break the chain of disease transmission and prevent further spread of the virus.
