SB118 Ribbon Precedence Order

Generally speaking, the ranking from lowest to highest category is as follows: Milestones, Campaign,
General, Lifesaving, Gallantry & Heroism.

Each category can be broken down as well and will be noted as to how best organize ribbons. In
general, when viewed from the front, higher ranked ribbons will be to the left and on higher rows
(towards center chest of wearer). For ribbons that are ranked the same, number of commendations will
take precedence, after that chronologically with the oldest being ranked higher.

The following will list, starting with the highest category on down, will feature ribbons individually or
categorically organized by highest precedence.

Gallantry and Heroism

Distinguished Service Ribbon
Silver Star
Good Conduct Ribbon
Legion of Merit
UFP Medal of Freedom

The above ribbons will always rank in this order from highest to lowest when displayed and will
always be displayed above all others indicating their meaning of self sacrifice being of service above
the call of duty.

Lifesaving
Gold Lifesaving Ribbon
Silver Lifesaving Ribbon
Lifesaving Ribbon
Trauma Support Advocate

The above ribbons will always rank in this order from highest to lowest and above all others ribbons
other than Gallantry and Heroism. The order of Lifesaving ribbons is chosen based on individual
sacrifice and risk to least risk.

General
Purple Heart
Prisoner of War

The above ribbons rank above all others in the General category due to the nature of their issuance.
They are worn above all others save for Lifesaving or Gallantry and Heroism ribbons. Individually,
they rank the same and are only worn one before the other based on chronology of issue.

Captain's Commendation

The above ribbon ranks above the rest in the General category save for the Purple Heart and Prisoner of
War ribbons.

themselves as previously described.

Campaign

Any and all campaign ribbons are worn above Milestone ribbons and below General ribbons. Any and
all campaign ribbons earned are worn in chronological order with the oldest taking highest precedence.
