SCENE 2 Teacher Gen:

Location: English world What a beautiful day to learn new things!

Last time you helped Ma’am Aiza collect
stories of kids who are kind and helpful
while learning about the parts of a story.

Today, we will continue studying the

elements or parts of a short story. Can you
still remember them?

Great! Just remember the five finger story

elements taught by Ma’am Aiza:
The thumb finger is for the setting, which
GFX Pop Up See Finger elements from Tr. Ma’am Aiza focused on in the last lesson.
Aiza’s episode The setting tells us about the time and place
where the story happened.

The index finger represents the characters.

The characters are the people, animals, or
objects the story is about.

The middle finger represents the events or

what happens in the story.

The ring finger stands for the problem or

conflict. The problem or conflict is important
because this is the part of the story that
needs to be solved. Will the characters
succeed… or fail to solve the problem by the
end of the story?
The suspense!

And the little finger represents the theme of

the story. The theme also tells us what
lesson or values we can all learn from the
story.

Just like our fingers, all the elements or

parts of the story are important to make the
story complete. All of the parts work
together to make the story more exciting
and understandable.

Let’s practice, shall we?

GFX POP UP Story Map Are you ready? Great!

To fully understand the elements, let’s listen

to a beautiful story.

But first, I want you to prepare your pencil

and paper… hold them up high, come on!

So you can list down the elements or parts

of the story. You have to do it with me
because later, we will be making a story
map.

Can you do that? (pause) Great! Let’s begin!

(THE STORY WILL BE REENACTED BY DILLY, DALLY, DOLLY!
THE TB)

GFX location EnchanToys Store ONE BEAUTIFUL MORNING, INSIDE THE

“ENCHANTOYS STORE,” THREE
BEAUTIFUL DOLLS NAMED DILLY,
DALLY, AND DOLLY WERE ARGUING
WHO AMONG THEM WAS THE
Voice of the narrator PRETTIEST DOLL IN THE STORE.
EACH DOLL WANTED TO BE THE
PRETTIEST SO SHE CAN BE CHOSEN
BY THE NEXT CUSTOMER.

Dilly: I deserve to be bought today because

I am the loveliest among us three! Just look
at my long hair and my eyes! No child will be
able to resist my cuteness!
Dally: Excuse me! Just look at my pink
cheeks and beautiful red lips! These will be
loved by my new owner. I should be picked!
Dolly: Well, well, well! Stop dreaming, Dilly
and Dally. I am sure that the next customer
will buy me because among the three of us I
am the prettiest. Just look at how beautiful
my dress is. My new owner will love to hug
me the whole day!

Dilly: No! I should be picked!

Dally: Not you, me!
Dolly: Me! Me! Me!

WHILE THE THREE DOLLS CONTINUED

TO ARGUE WHO AMONG THEM SHOULD
BE PICKED AND BOUGHT FIRST, A
FAIRY APPEARED AND SAID:
Fairy:
Be quiet, you three! You are all beautiful, but

because it’s kind of weird to have a Fairy of

Let’s keep things simple. 😊 short by your new owner… would you still
love her?
(Shocked ang itsura ni Dilly)
Dally! When your pink cheeks fade because
of time and going through the laundry to
make sure you are clean to be played with…
would you still be loyal to the little girl who
will take care of you?
(Dally looks down and fidgets)
And Dolly! What if the day comes when your
dress is not pretty anymore? Will you
frown… or still smile?

THE DOLLS WERE SILENT AND

THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT THE FAIRY
SAID.

Fairy: Kids come here to EnchanToys Store

to look for friends who will be with them thru
ups and downs, who will play with them
whenever they are alone, and who will make
them happy.
They don’t just look at the physical
appearance of toys.

Dilly: The fairy is right. We can all be

beautiful, inside and out.
Dally: I realized that I feel more beautiful
whenever I am with you Dilly and Dolly
because you are my friends.
Dolly: Me too!

THE DOLLS HUGGED EACH OTHER AND

THE FAIRY SMILED.
SUDDENLY, THE DOOR OPENED AND IN
CAME A LITTLE GIRL AND HER
MOTHER.
THE NEXT THING THE DOLLS KNEW,
THE LITTLE GIRL WASN’T ONLY
HOLDING ONE DOLL, NOT TWO, BUT
THREE.

GFX SHOW THIS STORY MAP Wow! What an inspiring story of humility and
friendship! Did you enjoy the story? Me too!

This time look at your notes. Were you able

to identify the elements of the story? Let’s
check, shall we?

For our next activity, we will make a story

map in the shape of a house. Isn’t that cool?
Look at this closely!

BUT BEFORE WE ANSWER, WE NEED

TO FINISH DRAWING THE HOUSE.

house! Let’s do it together, okay?

Beginning with the roof, what is the title

of our story?

(pause)

Dilly, Dally, Dolly? Are you sure? If you

are, then good job! Let’s now write the
title inside the roof.
There! Dilly, Dally, Dolly!

Let’s go down to the next floor. Can you

tell me what the setting of our setting is?
Let’s start with the time… what time did
the story happen? Right! One beautiful
morning.

And where did the story happen? At the

EnchanToys Store? Are you sure?
Correct!

NOW THAT WE’VE FILLED OUT THE

THIRD FLOOR WINDOWS, LET’S GO TO
THE SECOND FLOOR WINDOW!

DO YOU REMEMBER WHO THE

CHARACTERS ARE?

NOT YET DONE, BECAUSE THE LITTLE
GIRL AND HER MOTHER ARE ALSO
CHARACTERS IN THE STORY.

TB oncam:

Wow! You were able to name the

characters! Nice!

Let’s now identify the events of the story.

Hmmm, let’s close our eyes and try to

remember what happened… (quick rewind
effect of video with filter, then TB will open
her eyes)

Ah! Of course! In the beginning, the dolls

were arguing who among them was the
prettiest.

Let’s write: The dolls were arguing.

GFX POP UP You don’t need to write the whole story

to complete the events. Just write the
gist or the main event for each part.
Okay?

Next!

taught them a lesson.

AND AT THE END OF THE STORY, THE

DOLLS REALIZED THEY LOVED EACH
OTHER AS FRIENDS AND THEY WERE
BOUGHT TOGETHER BY A LITTLE GIRL
AND HER MOTHER.

LET’S WRITE: THE DOLLS BECAME

GREATER FRIENDS AND WERE
BOUGHT BY A LITTLE GIRL.

TB oncam:

Phew! Did you write all of that down?

Great! Before we move on, let’s shake
our hands first, there! Now we’re ready to
write some more.

While listening to the story of Dilly, Dally

and Dolly the dolls, what problem can
you identify?

This is the part of the story where you

felt worried about the characters. Any
ideas?

(pause)

I think… the problem of the three dolls,

Dilly, Dally and Dolly, was that they were
arguing about who among them was the
prettiest and be picked by the next
customer!

Let’s put our answer on the door: Which

doll should be picked.

Our story map house is almost complete!

Let’s have the next one.

VOICE OVER:

REMEMBER, KIDS, THE THEME TALKS

ABOUT THE LESSON OR THE MORAL
THE STORY WANTS TO TEACH US. THIS
CAN BE ANSWERED BY THE QUESTION:
DID YOU ALSO LEARN ANYTHING FROM
THE STORY?

(pause)

TB oncam:

Humility? Are you sure?

Amazing! That’s correct! The Fairy made

the dolls realize that there are two kinds
of beauty: the one seen outside and the
one from the inside!

The dolls also realized that their

friendship is more important that being
beautiful. Good job! Let’s now put that as
our theme, lets write: humility and
friendship.
Look, kids! Our house is complete!

We did it! Nice one, kids!

(flash the house on screen with confetti

effect)

taught them a lesson; and the dolls became

The problem of the dolls was that they

wanted to be the prettiest to know which doll

Finally, the theme of the story is about

humility and friendship.

The End!

Wohoooo! That was incredibly awesome!

See, understanding a story is easier if we
know its elements.

Give yourselves five claps for a job well

done!

Are you ready for another activity on

identifying the parts of a story? Great! You
can join me because I’m preparing to watch
a puppet show today!

Have you watched a puppet show before?

Not yet, well me too, actually! This is my first

time so I’m really excited about it! I heard it
is really fun!

What are we waiting for? Puppet show…

here we come!

Breaker Up Music

Scene 7 Inside an Arena or Theater TB oncam:

While we are watching a puppet show or

any show onstage, we have to be really
quiet while the show is ongoing. We have to
respect the actors and actresses!

We have to watch from the beginning up to

the end.

And the last thing we have to remember, is

to also list down the elements of the story
that we will see.

Just remember the five finger elements:

characters, setting, events, problem and
theme! I know you can do it!

Oh, look it’s about to start!

Scene 8: Puppet Show VO:

Use the improvised Puppet Show Stage CHIMMY AND CHUMMY’S SUMMER

NARRATOR:
ON A HOT SUMMER DAY, TWO SISTERS
NAMED CHIMMY AND CHUMMY WENT
TO THE BEACH TO SWIM AND PLAY
THEIR FAVORITE GAME, VOLLEYBALL!

CHIMMY:
CATCH THE BALL, CHUMMY! CATCH IT!
CHUMMY:
YES! WOOHOOO! THIS IS THE BEST
SUMMER EVER!

NARRATOR:
WHILE CHIMMY AND CHUMMY WERE
HAPPILY PLAYING, A STRONG WIND
CAME AND BLEW THEIR BALL AWAY.

CHIMMY:
OH NO! OUR BALL!

CHUMMY:
HOW CAN WE PLAY NOW? THIS IS NOT
THE BEST SUMMER AFTER ALL!

NARRATOR:
CHUMMY WAS DISAPPOINTED AND
WAS READY TO GO HOME BUT CHIMMY
THOUGHT OF ANOTHER WAY TO STILL
ENJOY THEIR SUMMER.

CHIMMY:
IT’S OKAY CHUMMY. YOU DON’T HAVE
TO BE SAD. LOOK, I AM STILL HERE
WITH YOU!

CHUMMY:
AWW. THAT’S SO SWEET OF YOU
CHIMMY. YOU ARE RIGHT, FOR AS
LONG AS WE ARE TOGETHER, WE WILL
BE HAPPY!

NARRATOR:
THE SISTERS CONTINUED PLAYING ON
THE BEACH AND WENT SWIMMING.
THEY REALIZED THAT THE THEIR
HAPPY SUMMER DID NOT DEPEND ON
THE BALL BUT ON EACH OTHER.
Scene 9 : Arena/Theater TB oncam:

That was so beautiful! I almost cried while

watching the ending because it reminds me
of my family and friends! The story is right.
Happiness does not depend on material
things.

How about you kids, did you enjoy the
puppet show? Were you able to list down
the elements of the story? Great!

SUMMER.

GFX Announcer or host of the Show

THE STORY SETTING IS ONE DAY
DURING SUMMER AT THE BEACH.
THE CHARACTERS ARE CHIMMY AND

THE EVENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
CHIMMY AND CHUMMY WERE PLAYING
BALL BUT THE WIND BLEW THEIR BALL
AWAY.
CHIMMY TOLD CHUMMY THEY CAN
STILL ENJOY THE SUMMER.
AND THE SISTERS CONTINUED HAVING
FUN AT THE BEACH!
THE PROBLEM THE SISTERS FACED
WAS THAT THEIR BALL WAS BLOWN
AWAY.
BUT BECAUSE THE SISTERS WERE NOT
MATERIALISTIC, THEY STILL ENJOYED
THE SUMMER.

TB oncam:

That is the theme of our story: do not be

materialistic.

VO Announcer:

Ladies and gentlemen, this time we will

ask for a volunteer to sing the closing
song with our puppets here on stage!
Any volunteers?
