Helix
Genetic testing can help us avoid risks for diseases, it is like knowing your origin and your
future at the same time. Your data might be secured from other people but you’re handing the
full control of your genetic data to Helix and some government agencies. It’s not that bad of a
trade-off, considering it offers future insights about diseases that you inherited and can be
inherited by your kids. Though it can also trigger emotional impulses, especially if your result
is something you don’t want to hear. For me, the benefits outweigh the risks, moreover that
you can avail genetic tests at a cheap price since normally it would be very costly to attain.

B. The Robot Priests (Pepper and BlessU-2)

Letting an AI do religious works can trigger ethical dilemmas. Can really a Robot qualify or
have the authority to handle ceremony or rites? Some people are amused by it but I think it
voids the sanctity of doing rites. There is just a big difference between a Robot giving sermons
or handling ceremonies compared to an actual human doing it. It would feel lifeless and would
sound like a pre-recorded voice tape. Even if AI will revolutionize our lives in the coming
future, I think that there are some jobs that AI can't replace, like being a priest, a lawyer and a
teacher because an AI does not have any moral standards and does not adhere to our
values.

C. Textalyzer
This technology would be very helpful in police investigation, specifically if there is an accident
like a car crash and traffic infraction. I completely agree with the use of these but there should
be limitations with using this technology since it can trigger invasion of privacy and breach of
security. Though the company did claim that information of the text or call cannot be
accessible by the police officers. Still a law should be made concerning this matter or if there
would be a warrant needed before using such technology. The government should be
concerned about how it will be implemented and how to handle unequal treatment of
motorists.

D. Social Credit System

Having a social credit system can only be applicable to some countries like China who
prioritizes their safety and well-being over freedom and human rights. If the Philippines were
to have a social credit system, now that would be a disaster. We Filipinos are afraid to be
oppressed, once we feel an oppression by the government or by other countries, we protest
and would start a revolution if it comes to worse. This type of mind might have been inherited
since the time of oppression by Spaniards and the government of Ferdinand Marcos.
Personally, I do not like the idea of having the government decide whether you are a
righteous person or not, or if you are an enemy of the government or not. Social credit system
can also trigger discrimination since information is easily accessible through the smartphones.
