Direction: Fill in the table with the Science
topics that you have learned from your
previous grade levels.

Science Topics That I Have Learned From

My Previous Grade Levels

(Answers may depend on students’ points-of-

view.)

Process Questions
1.) From the listed topics in the table, which
one is the most interesting for you? Why?
2.) What is the best grade level for you?
Explain your answer.
3.) Aside for grade levels, what other “levels”
will you encounter in your life?
(Answers may depend on students’ points-of-
view.)
All of us accomplished different grade levels
and surpassed them with flying colors. Every
school year, you gain another grade level
after completing the subjects’ requirements.
(sample response) gaining another level in
playing mobile games
Just like in school, there are different levels of
biological organization. It all starts with a tiny-
bitsy cell (similar when you were in
Kindergarten) and eventually to a biosphere
(same as when you are already in Grade 10).

What are the different levels of biological

organization? Let us learn about them today!

D. Presentation / Discussion

THE BIOLOGICAL LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION

1.) Cells
- is the smallest fundamental unit of structure and function in living organisms that is
considered completely alive. Some organisms consist of a single cell or unicellular and others
are multicellular.

Cells are classified as prokaryotic or eukaryotic. Prokaryotes are single-celled or colonial

organisms that do not have membrane-bound nuclei; in contrast, the cells of eukaryotes do
have membrane-bound organelles and a membrane-bound nucleus.

2.) Tissues
- are groups of cells that have a similar structure and act together to perform a specific
function.
3.) Organ
- it is a group of tissues with similar functions.

4.) Organ System

– a group of organs with the same specific function.

5.) Organism
- it is composed of different organ systems that work together to carry out life.

6.) Population
- a group of organisms of the same species that live in particular geographic area at the same
time.

7.) Community
- a group or association of populations occupying the same geographical area at the same
time.

8.) Ecosystem
- a community of living things interacting with each other with their non-living environment.

9.) Biosphere
- the global sum of all the ecosystems. The zone of life on earth.

E. Activity

GROUP ACTIVITY
Directions:
1.) Form three groups.
2.) Identify what level of biological organization is being presented.
3.) Maintain the orderliness while doing the activity.
4.) The group with the highest points wins.
(answer key)
1.) organism
2.) cell
3.) biosphere
4.) organ
5.) organ system
6.) tissues
7.) population
8.) organ
9.) ecosystem
10.) community

(The teacher will declare the winning group.)

F. Analysis
THINK ABOUT THESE
Direction: Answer the following questions.

1.) What do you call to the community being Ifugaos

presented on picture number 10?
(Answers may depend on students’ points-of-
2.) Why are they considered as a view.)
community?
3.) What can you do to value the indigenous
people?

G. Abstraction

WHERE DO I BELONG?
Direction: Arrange the following levels of
biological organization.

H. Application

HELPING HAND
1.) Do you consider that PWDs is an example (Answers may depend on students’ points-of-
of a community? Why? view.)
2.) Why should we treat them equally?
3.) Why is the importance of the different
levels of life’s organization?

I. Evaluation
You can access this online via Quiziz application.

Direction: Let us check your understanding. Write the letter of the correct answer in your
answer sheet.

1.) It is the basic unit of structure and function of all living things capable of performing life
processes.
A. tissues
B. cell
C. organ
D. organism

2.) The organ system of plants that absorbs water and nutrients from the soil.
A. circulatory system
B. shoot system
C. root system
D. digestive system

3.) The level of organization composed of similar cells that are arranged and grouped to
perform specific functions.
A. tissues
B. cell
C. organ
D. organ system

4.) A population of Aphids thriving on the stem and leaves of a group of green shrubs with
some group of ants form a _________________.
A. organ system
B. ecosystem
C. community
D. biosphere

5.) The recent laboratory result of Mrs. Reynoso revealed that her white blood cells and pus
cells are too many to count which shows she has a Urinary Tract Infection. Which organ
system has a problem in this situation?
A. Circulatory System
B. Respiratory System
C. Reproductive system
D. Excretory System

6.)The heart pumps and circulates blood to the different parts of the body through the blood
vessels. What might happen to the person if it fails to function?
A. The heart will be damaged
B. The cells of the heart will be affected
C. There is no significant effect to the person
D. The person will suffer and might die

7.) Which of the following statement is true?

A. Groups of organs working together are called cells
B. Groups of cells working together are called tissues.
C. Groups of organs working together are called organisms.
D. Groups of tissues working together are called organ system.

8.) Which plant organ system does not belong to the group?
A. flower
B. leaf
C. root
D. stem

9.) Which of the following statement is true?

A. A group of organisms of the same kind living in a particular area forms a Population.
B. Biosphere is the non-living part of the earth.
C. A group of different population in a particular area forms an Ecosystem.
D. A living individual composed of different organ systems forms a community.

10.) Cancer cells are abnormal growth of cells that invade and outlive normal cells. What is
the effect of diseased cells on the higher levels of organization in an organism?
A. Diseased cells affect certain kinds of organ.
B. Diseased cells affect the next level of organization which are the tissues.
C. Cancer cells can affect all the levels of organization in an organism: the tissues,
organs, organ systems and eventually the whole organism.
D. Diseased cells do not affect the other parts of the organism.

J. Assignment

Direction: Create an advertisement showing the level of biological organization. You can
choose different ways of making it. It can be through vlogging, drawing, poster making, poem,
story telling, etc.
