At the end of lesson, learners are expected to:
1. Discuss the content of a research abstract that illustrates
how a problem was solved.
2. Identify the steps of scientific methods using an abstract of
science research or an investigation
3. Use scientific methods in conducting an investigation based
on a real-life problem or solution; and
4. Recognize the role of scientific investigations in gathering
scientific knowledge and improving ways of doing things.
In this lesson, the learners demonstrate an understanding of
classifying substances as elements or compounds.
The learners shall be able to make a chart, poster, or multimedia
presentation of common elements showing their names, symbols
and uses.
CLMD4A – Budget of Work (BOW) SCI7 pp. 97-98
1. The learners shall be able to recognize that substances are
classified into elements and compounds.
2. Differentiate elements from compounds
3. Give examples of elements and compounds used in everyday
living.

What I need to know?
A. Introduction  The learners will do the walkthrough of the lesson’s
expectations.
 In this part, the content of the lesson will be presented.
 Learning objectives will also be introduced to guide the
learners on the learning targets.

 The teacher will draw or show photos about Matter, and the
learners will identify them.
 The learners should classify them as Mixture or Substance.

B. Development  The teacher will discuss the importance of Matter and its
relation to real-life examples.

C. Engagement  The teacher will ask the learners to get their Periodic
Tables and discuss the Elements.
 What is it?
 An activity will be given about the Periodic Table of
Elements. The learners will identify the Elements’ symbol.

D. Assimilation  EXPERIMENT: The learners will be divided into groups to
do experiments about Homogeneous and Heterogenous
Mixtures. They will bring materials needed such as:
 Plastic cups
 Bottled water
 Coffee powder
 Milo
 Coins (5 pieces)
