1 Introduction
1.1 Scope
This Operational Instruction describes the procedure to replace a APUB and APUB2
processor board.
2 Procedure
2.1 Prerequisites
2.1.1 Conditions
The following condition must apply before this procedure can be completed:
One of the two APUB board should be in active and working condition.
2.1.2 Data
The user name and password valid for a user with administrative rights on the
node.
The document "APHW Boards and CN-I Information" is needed, if Bios and IPMI
FW upgrade is needed.
2.2 Actions
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
Go to Step 41.
hwmls
Note:
Check <APUB board Slot number> received in the work order is the one of faulty
board. This info will be used in next steps.
Check BIOS and IPMI FW Version, active board
Note:
Take note of Running IPMI FW state and IPMI FW revision.
6. Check whether the faulty APUB board is existing or not in the slot?
Yes
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to Step 41.
Note:
For the slot number, Refer Step 3.
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot no of the faulty board. Refer Step 3.
8. Wait until the MIA LED on the APUB board to be replaced is switched on.
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot no of the faulty board. Refer Step 3.
9.
Warning!
10.
10. Disconnect the ethernet and external alarms cables from the faulty board in the
following order, see APG43 Cable Reference.

1 Public ethernet cable (if present) ETH 0
2 Public ethernet cable ETH 1
3 External alarms cable SATA-

Table 2
1 Diconnect SAS-1 on the faulty Board
2 Diconnect SAS-0 on the faulty Board
12. Note:
13. It is important that the cables will be reconnected in the same channels (SAS-0
respective SAS-1) where they were removed from.
Note:
When you have loosened the faulty board from the cabinet a few millimeters,
check that all screws are loose - they have a tendency to still be connected by a
half turn.
Reconnect cables
13. Connect the ethernet and external alarms cables in the following order,
see APG43 Cable Reference:

1 Public ethernet cable (if present) ETH 0
2 Public ethernet cable ETH 1
3 External alarms cable SATA-

1 Connect SAS-1 on the replaced Board
2 Connect SAS-0 on the replaced Board
15. Note:
16. It is important that the cables is connected in the same channels (SAS-0
respective SAS-1) where they were removed from.
On active APUB board, integrate the replaced board
Note:
< slotnumber> is the slot number of the repaired board. Refer Step 3.
Note:
Check power LED is ON and MIA Led is OFF.
16. Disconnect from the active node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
End. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return to Step 17.
18. Connect to the replaced node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
Initiate. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and then return toStep
19.
19. Print the APUB Boards Product Number and Revision. Enter command
hwmls –l
Note:
Make a note of “Product Number:” and “Product Revision State:” for both the
APUB Boards. That info are used to check the latest released IPMI and bios.
21. Is replaced Board's BIOS version identical to Active board's one, as got at Step 4?
Yes
Go to Step 23.
No
Go to Step 22.
22. Go to "APHW Boards and CN-I Information", APHW CN-I’s - section to upgrade
Bios upgrade Bios on active/passive APUB board whichever is lower, contact next
level support to get CNI info and return toStep 23.
23. Check the firmware state and revision of the upgraded board. Use command
ipmi_upg -f
Note:
Compare Running IPMI FW state and IPMI FW revision with output of Step 5.
Yes
Go to Step 40.
No
Go to Step 25.
Note:
If printout comes as "Watchdog Status: OFF" then watchdog is in disable state.
Note:
If printout gives "Watchdog Status: <someValue>" then watchdog is in enable
state. Note down the value of watchdog.
26. Disconnect from the replaced node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User
Session, End. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return toStep
27.
27. Connect to the active node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
Initiate. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return to Step 28.
29. Stop the APBM and HWM server.cluster res ACS_APBM_Server_0 /offcluster res

Note:
where <path> is the path to the firmware file.
Yes
Go to Step 33.
No
Go to Step 41.
33. Restart APBM and HWM server.
Enable watchdog.
Go to Step 35.
Disable watchdog.
Go to Step 37.
Note:
Use value of the watchdog as noted in the Step 25.
Note:
It is recommended that watchdog be enabled with a default value of 120.
Note:
Take appropriate actions to solve any alarm.
40. Disconnect from the active node. Go to Operational Instruction AP, User Session,
End. Perform the steps in that Operational Instruction and return to Step 42.
41. Consult the next level of maintenance support. Further action is outside the scope
of this Operational Instruction.
