Animal Cell Organelles
Nucleus - sperical shape that controls the cell’s activities and
contains DNA

Nucleolus - located inside the nucleus and known as the ribosome

factory

Cell Membrane - located inside the cell wall, separates the cell
from its surrounding, it is selectively permeable and controls
what enters/leaves the cell.

Cytoplasm - thick fluid contained inside cell membrane that holds

all cell organelles

Lysosome - contains enzymes that can break down other molecules, digests
unwanted material in the cytoplasm

Mitochondria - double membrane organelle responsible for production of

cell’s energy supply - ATP

Golgi Apparatus - (aka Golgi complex or Golgi body) - packages

proteins into membrane bound units to be transported out
of the cell

Endoplasmic Reticulum - a set of flattened, tube-like structures forms

around the nucleus, there are two types of E.R.
Smooth ER - no ribosomes, responsible for lipid production
Rough ER - sprinkled with ribsomes and responsible for
protein synthesis

Vacuole - large storage cell that holds nutrients or even waste,

very large in plant cell compared to animal cell
