 Your excellency claims that there is no men who need liberal reforms in Noli me
tangere just like what is asked in “The Philippines a Century Hence.”

 The author said that “Your Excellency” only asked foolish questions such as
“What have you been silent for so long? What better way than the novel to
proclaim to the world of your wonders?

 It also mentioned that “Your Excellency” infers only one side of the situation and
takes it already as the truth.

 “You Excellency” refers to as inconsistent.

 It also called the natives of Ceylon, Malays has placed Santa Cruz in Paete and
Colombo.

 These is Rizal's reply to Vicente Barrantes's criticism of Noli in which the latter
sought to find grammatical errors and contradictions.

 Noli Me Tangere painted the good and bad sides of Filipinos. Jose Rizal have
painted an Elias and a Tasio, because the Eliases and the Tasios exist in spite of
your excellency. Your excellency and your coreligionaries [fellow supporters],
fearing that the few good that he have painted might serve as an example to the
bad and redeem them,shout that the good is false, poetic, exaggerated, ideal,
impossible, incredible, and what not. But Vicente Barrantes admit only the bad so
that the people may be belittled and humiliated because, incapable of going up,
you desire all who surround you to go down so that you may appear great and
elevated.

 Rizal clearly associated reforms with medicine which was the necessary cure for
the social cancer he wrote about. Obviously, that social cancer can't be the defects
and weaknesses of Filipinos
