Protect Yourself
Within the umbrella of copyright and fair use, teachers
and students need to take into factor of what their
using, thus the idea of purpose. The purpose needs to
be educational and have some sort of instructional
idea. For example, there could come a day where it
may be bad weather outside so you intend to keep the
kids inside and watch a Disney movie. Without an
instructional plan, that is an infringement of copyright
and can have serious consequences.

Ideally, what is more apparent is when we distribute

copies of worksheets or execerpts of readings that we
see online. It may be innocent but depending on what
laws are instilled in your state and their rules, it is too
copyright, because of the distribution that is being
done. This can also be indentified as the amount that is
being distrubtted which is also a very intrivate idea to
consider.
The third and the fourth go hand in hand which are
nature of the work and the effect of the work. What
the nature means is how it is going to be used and
why. Rmember, there needs to be an instructional
purpose towards it but again, within the limitations of
what is allowed with the sector.
The effect of the work is another way of saying its purpose
after the instructional part. Selling soeone elses work is
copyright and thus can have consequences for anyone.
So that leads us to the bigger question, what can I do then? In
order to use the sources and items that you observem you
need to mindful of what you are using and how you are using
it. Within this sector of the rules, take into consideration the
number of words within a work, how many pages are going to
be distributed and who are they going to.
These questions fall more onto the teachers to be mindful of
but it is too very important that the teacher models and
teaches students how to proper use work that isn’t theirs and
make it their own.
