Q1: Define Enterprise Architecture and give example of their framework? 5 marks

An “enterprise” is any collection of organizations that has a common set of goals.

Architecture is a formal description of a system, or a detailed plan of the system at component level,
to guide its implementation.

Q2: If you work for medium size organization and you want to start an enterprise
architecture program, what are the best approaches to start this? Assumption: You don’t
yet have executive managers support, the organization maturity level is 3, No one else
know about EA at the organization except yourself. NO one knows about EA benefits?
Hint: Discuss based on ADM phases. 5 marks

The best approach would be to first gain the executive team support by introducing to them
EA and its benefits to the organization, emphasize must be on business benefits, cost saving,
better services. Then, I would start gathering evidence that we are not getting the most out
of our information systems. I will look for persons who can understand my views and would
share the same concerns, I will introduce them to EA and if I can I will convince management
team to send them for training (building capability).

Then, I will start looking for the most inefficient processes and identifies its department; I
will aligning with their manager and gain his support to start building his department EA as a
model. By doing this, I will be able to start the EA on single administrative unit which will
help me to minimize risk and spend more time on the learning curve of the EA process.
