Marikina Valley Fault

The Marikina Valley Fault System, also known as the Valley Fault
System (VFS), is a dominantly dextral strike-slip fault system in Luzon,
Philippines. It extends from Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan in the
north and runs through the provinces of Rizal, and the Metro
Manila cities of Quezon, Marikina, Pasig, Makati, Taguig and Muntinlupa
, and the provinces of Cavite and Laguna that ends
in Canlubang.

2. Philippine Fault Zone

The Philippine Fault Zone (PFZ) extends 1200 km across
the Philippine archipelago behind the convergent boundary
of the Philippine Trench and the subduction of
the Philippine Sea Plate. This left-lateral strike-slip fault
extends NW-SE (N30 – 40 W) accommodating the lateral
oblique motion of the subducting Philippine Sea Plate with
respect to the Philippine Trench

3. Masbate Fault.
The Masbate fault is a transition zone characterized by
large and medium earthquakes accompanied by
unusually large ground rupture with post-seismic
deformation and possibly slow-slip components.
Recurrence intervals along this zone range from 5 to 10
years.

4. Digdig Fault
The event was a result of strike-slip movements along the Philippine Fault
and the Digdig Fault within the Philippine Fault System. The earthquake's
epicenter was near the town of Rizal, Nueva Ecija, northeast
of Cabanatuan City.
