PHILOSOPHY

1. What is your understanding of the term Philosophy? Education? What is the

significance of Philosophy to education and to your life?

Philosophy is commonly defined as the love for wisdom but in a broader sense,
philosophy seeks to understand fundamental truths. Meanwhile, education is a lifelong
process of learning and acquiring knowledge and skills through schooling and training
and even through our experiences.
Philosophy is an important field of study in education because it touches diverse topics
and discipline. Every aspect of human knowledge from language, arts, science and
technology benefited from the is inquiring nature of philosophy. It also provides
opportunity for us to question, to analyze and develop our critical thinking abilities.
In life, each one of us is a philosopher, whether or not we have studied philosophy.
We all have the potential to philosophize since we have tendency to wonder and doubt.
We possess the capacity to reflect on our experiences and we have never-ending need to
learn and discover. Without the concept of philosophy, we will never improve ourselves.
2. Discuss your own philosophy as:

A teacher

Learning is lifelong process. It doesn’t end in four corners of our classroom. Thus,
we should always take everyday as an opportunity to learn and discover new things,
to experience and appreciate the lessons of life because as the cliché goes
“Experience is the best teacher.”

An individual
Openly accept constructive criticisms for one to be able to improve and enhance
oneself. However, one should not always live for the validation of others instead live for
your own choices, own decisions, and preferences as long as you do good for yourself
and for others as well.
One should not compare him/herself to others. This will just lead to envy and
unsatisfaction and useless thoughts. Learn to enjoy life and savour every little moment
with family, friends and loved ones. The pandemic emphasized that life is indeed short so
we should learn to prioritize our health and happiness. We should always choose to kind
and good. We never know when our clock stops.

A member of your religious sect/denomination

No matter what our religion is, we all have one God. The creator of all and the
salvation. We may be divided by our religious beliefs, yet we are united by our faith. We
may doubt each other’s practices yet we recognize and respect each other’s traditions.
We may disagree with each other’s interpretation about the teachings in the holy Bible
yet we agree that there is nothing great than our Almighty. We may have differences in
culture and traditions and beliefs and practices yet we celebrate our diversity. We have
one God and we believe in Him. We think good, we do good and we choose to be good. I
think this is all that matters.

3.The Bible offers life metaphors that teach us God’s view of life. One of these is
“Life on earth is a test.” Recall a past experience where you can now see that God
was testing you.

Each one of us has each own problem to face. It may be temporary, it may be
lifetime. As for me, it may be lifetime. I will always wonder how it feels to be
taken cared of my biological mother. I will always long for love, affection and
attention from a mother.
