Grade 2 Literature Phase 1: Name: - Div.

Amelia Bedelia works as a housekeeper for the Rogers family. She takes instructions very literally, which often leads to humorous misunderstandings and mix-ups. When Mrs. Rogers asks Amelia to check Mr. Rogers' shirts, Amelia inspects each shirt closely instead of simply looking them over. She also strips the sheets off the bed by removing the actual sheets instead of just changing them. Another time, when asked to remove the spots from Mrs. Rogers' dress, Amelia takes the dress outside and brushes off clusters of dots, which were actually part of the pattern. Amelia's literal interpretations of tasks regularly cause confusion and comedy.
