Special Activity
“Computed Tomography VS Other Imaging Specialty”

A. Which of the following modalities has the most impact on you and why?
- Among those modalities on the video I watched, the modalities that have the most impact for me is the
CT scan because it produced a very detailed images for the bone, blood vessels and soft tissues which
helps people to see and better understand the images. Moreover, because of CT scan it can help to
evaluate and further see the smallest fractures because it is 3D. Even though it was a little bit expensive,
it is worth it because it can detect the pathology that the patients have. Also, CT has a big impact for me
because before my grandfather died, he undergoes an examination in CT scan so that we detect the
tumor between his heart and lungs.

B. Choose one modality other than CT and explain the fundamental difference between your chosen modality
and Computed Tomography.
- For the modalities I’ve watched in videos, I chose MRI (radio waves) to differentiate with the Computed
Tomography (X-rays). In CT, the bone appears in white while in MRI it appears dark in color. For bigger
areas, a CT scan is preferable, whereas an MRI scan provides a superior overall image of the tissue
under evaluation. Moreover, MRI may take longer than CT scans as it is quieter and more comfortable.
Based on our previous lessons about this, CT scans are inexpensive and more widespread, while MRI
scans provide more high-resolution images.
