Biologists study life through observation, hypothesis formation, experimentation, and connecting evidence to form conclusions. Studying biology provides fundamental knowledge about other organisms and their functions, which can help prevent issues like food spoilage. Biologists now use modern technology like microscopy to study life at smaller scales and discover new species. While the origin of life is still debated, theories like panspermia propose that life arrived on Earth from outer space. All living things share characteristics of life like the ability to live, move, develop, evolve, and adapt to their environments. Advances in biotechnology are creating useful products for humans like biodegradable plastics and the potential for plant-grown meat.

4. How do biologists study life and explore it’s complexities?
- It is by the use of observation, hypothesis, conclusion, dissecting (if
possible), experiments, reactions and connecting all the dots to come up with the results, through these biologists are able to break down complex structures and phenomenon when it comes to life and it’s cycle. 5. Why study biology? - Aside from because it is required for us STEM students, it is also good to have a fundamental knowledge about those creatures living around you, being aware of them and the generalities of it’s functions, can come in handy whenever it is needed. Plus, you can boast your supreme knowledge and assert dominance to those people who doesn’t know much about biology and be proud of yourself. HAHA (joke) (They do say first impression, makes a man.) - It is also quite important to have some knowledge about them because once you know their behaviors and patterns, you can prevent things like getting a mold on your bread and why did it happened, or maybe things like application of biotechnology when it comes to preserving food. 6. How do biologists study life? - With the use of observation like I said, and of course since we live in the modern world technology that we have today helps us study life at a closer scale than before, since the arrive of the technology we’ve been discovering a lot of things when it comes to life such as discovering new species that weren’t possible if we do not have enough technology to go down into the very deep dark ocean. So whilst the old method still helps us discover things at a quite fast rate, technology definitely multiplies this rate at approximately 3x it’s normal rate. 7. How did life arise on Earth? I dunno, beats me, though there were a lot of theories about how life originated on Earth, such as the Biogenesis and Abiogenesis (not gonna lie, Biogenesis doesn’t really make any sense they said life exists from a pre-existing life, but that doesn’t really solve the question, WHERE DID THOSE PRE-EXISTING LIFE CAME FROM. WHAT IS THE FIRST LIFE? That’s the question. Just something to think about there sister), Divine Creation (Bible) which is the 7 days of the creation of the universe, Panspermia which is life from outer space that came into the Earth. There’s also Spontaneous Origin which means non-living objects evolved into living creatures (sounds dumb, sorry no offense, but imagine a spontaneous origin concept, here’s an example: after billions of years, rock finally evolves into a four-legged creature.) -In all honesty though, the ones that really seems believable for me is Divine Creation and Panspermia. Panspermia’s concept sounds interesting, basically at some point all life on Earth is actually an alien that came from space or a planet. There are a lot of other theories regarding how life started on Earth, there’s even a theory that tells we’re actually living in a simulation game some sort of Virtual Reality and one day the plug that powers this world will be pulled and the universe will disappear without a trace in an instant. Crazy. 8. What characteristics do all living things share? The ability to live of course, and if I may include the ability to move, develop, evolve, and adapt to environment. There are a lot of characteristics all life on Earth share but if I were to choose one it would be the ability to live or to be alive. A body without a soul is not a living organism, it’s just a carcass. 9. How can your knowledge of biology improve the lives of other people? - Surprise them with random biology facts! Such as like: “Did you know once ants starts going out and gather food at their colony, it is a sign of a disaster or a typhoon?” or maybe “Did you know once cockroaches starts going out and starts going berserk, it means an earthquake is about to come”. Personally speaking little facts like these can not only entertainment people, but also help them get knowledge on why do those creatures behave like that.
10. How can advances in biotechnology make products useful to
humans? - Biotechnology is one of the most useful thing we’ve ever had. Why? The bread that you eat, the milk that you drink, the yogurt that you have on your fridge, the Yakult that you’re drinking right now. It’s all thanks to Biotechnology, whilst most of the products of Biotechnology centers around food and it’s integration of microorganisms into it. Surprisingly because of the modern technology that we have, Biologists and Scientists work together to solve the land pollution problem, by making biodegradable plastics. They’re trying to combined plastic- eating microorganisms into the plastic that would chew away plastics after 3-5 years. It’s actually amazing, it’s still on progress and they’re trying to make it into a mass-produced quantity so that in the near future we can replace our present plastics into biodegradable ones, and reduce land pollution. - Also have you heard of the experiment of trying to grow meat from plants by injecting some of the cow meat cells into the veins of the plant? Try to search that one, really astonishing! Maybe soon we’ll have pot-grown meats right outside our houses! Also good for the livestocks now they don’t need to die because of the meat demands right now.
