Admission to Higher Degree (HD) Programs, Academic Year 2021-22

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES OFFERED PROVISIONAL ADMISSION TO HD PROGRAMME (09.09.2021)


1. Check the website https://www.bitsadmission.com to find out the Higher Degree program to which you have been
offered admission.

(a) If this offer is acceptable to you, please pay an amount of Rs. 270,275 (which includes admission fee, one semester tuition fee,
student aid fund, student union fee and caution deposit as per the fee structure for the HD program of the Institute) so that the
same is received in the Admissions Office, BITS, Pilani – 333031(Rajasthan) latest by 5.00 P.M. on 16th September, 2021. Details
of rest of the fee amount including hostel fees, mess and electricity advance, etc. will be communicated later. Please read the
instructions carefully with regard to refund/forfeiture of fee mentioned under item no. 3 below, before making payment of
requisite fees.
(b) The fee payment can be done online once you accept the offer.

It may be noted that a candidate who does not pay fees as per the prescribed deadline (5.00 P.M. 16th Septemer, 2021)
will not be considered for admission any further.

First Semester 2021 – 22 is likely to be operated in online mode. However, students may be called to campus should there
be a significant improvement in the current situation.

2. Additional Instructions

(a) Formal admission offer is subject to verification of all documents against originals at the time of reporting, failing which
the provisional offer of admission to BITS Pilani will stand cancelled.
(b) Finalization of the admission is subject to the following:
I. Fulfilling all the eligibility criteria as listed in the admission brochure.
II. Being found medically fit by a registered medical practitioner (candidates to fill the proforma attached with this letter)
III. Submission of the following original mark sheets and certificates with a photocopy of each (for verification):
• Matriculation/10th pass certificate
• Mark sheet or grade card for all years/semesters of the qualifying Degree
• Final/ provisional Degree certificate of the qualifying Degree
• GATE score card with a self-declaration / certification for those whose admissions are made on the basis of
GATE score.

3. Instructions regarding refund/forfeiture of fee:


Below are different refund clauses that will be applicable for HD students:
1. If a candidate accepts the offer by remitting the above fees, the balance amount, and completes the admission formalities
but withdraws on or before 31st October 2021, then he or she will receive a complete refund of the fees.
2. If a candidate withdraws from HD programme after 31st October 2021, but before 31st December 2021, he or she will
receive a complete refund of the fees after a deduction of Rs. 1000/- as processing fee.
3. If a candidate withdraws after 31st December 2021, he or she will forfeit the entire amount of fees, and no refund will be
made to him or her.
4. All applicable refunds will be completed within 30 days from the closing date of admission.

ASSISTANTSHIP (STIPEND AND FEE WAIVER)


 Candidates admitted through GATE / GPAT will be normally eligible for a tuition fee waiver of Rs. 13,400/- per month over
and above the GATE / GPAT scholarship that they may receive. The fee waiver will be in lieu of 6-8 hours of work per week.
 Candidates admitted through HD Test will normally be eligible for a stipend of Rs. 13,400/- per month. The stipend is paid in
lieu of 6-8 hours of work per week.
 Since the First Semester is planned to be operated on online mode, it may not be possible to engage students for the planned 6-
8 hours of work per week. In such cases, candidates admitted through GATE / GPAT and HD Test will receive a reduced fee
waiver or stipend of Rs. 6700/- per month. The students will be correspondingly given a reduced workload.
 In view of the current situation, the Institute reserves the right to change datelines and other admission modalities as appropriate.
Candidates will be informed of the same in advance.
