RAJA RAJA CHOLAN INTRODUCTION

• Raja Raja Cholan is an inevitable


character in Tamizh and world history.
From modern-day Sri Lanka in the south
to Odisha in North to Malabar Coast
and the Maldives, Arulmoli Varman
(Raja Raja Cholan’s birth name), the
Tamizh King expanded his empire
throughout Asia. As Raja Raja Chola
accessed the throne, the golden era
bloomed
THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME

• The religion was under the religion of king karikala


chola, on early chola king the early chola appointed
kizhars or mannarsto administer small religion the king
BoopathiRaja was the kizhar who ruled the religion with
lead to Its name Boopatirajapuram later the reunion was
considered as the pallavas was ruled by kizhas name
the king hence the village was renamed as Sri
kaanageyapuram . The Raja Raja Solan presented
udaiyalur to one of his wife Ulagamahadebi later
named as udaiyalur
IMPROVEMENT OF VILLAGE

TEMPLE HISTORY

PAALKULATHI AMMAN TEMPLE

• The temple was situated near Theppakulam which contains

sulphur famous hence the temple and the dirty were
named paalkulathi

temple was being built by King Raja Raja cholan
KAILASANATHAR TEMPLE

• The temple was built by King Raja Raja chola and


was dedicated to lord shiva and Parvathi this temple
as a series of black lingas and the side of the main
structure
SELVA KALIAMMAN TEMPLE

• A small shine was built to the selva kaliamman by


the village the king shop in the sword before his
battle and always pays a visit to the Selva
kaliamman temple
DRAUPADI AMMAN TEMPLE

• A temple was built for Draupathy, Queen


of the Pandava kingdom.
• The villagers believe that the goddess
bestows bravery to the soldiers and mental
strength to their families
VISHNU TEMPLE

• The Iyengar division of the Brahmin

CENOTAPH OF KING RAJA RAJA CHOLA

• The inhabitants of this village considered


that the soul of the departed rejoice with
the God and hence a cenotaph is laid and
a black Linga is placed over it.

was to be buried among his subjects hence
his was laid in this village
