SCENE 2 (OPENING BILLBOARD)

CHARACTERS: Fhej, John Lloyd
NAMES DIALOGUES
Fhej A pleasant day to everyone! Welcome to the 1 st episode of BONIFACIO TV! We
are so honored to present you our 1st episode which was presented and organized
by our amazing group members! Am I right John Lloyd?
John Lloyd That’s right Fhej! Welcome everybody! This day would be a very great day for all
of us so you better relax and enjoy while learning and having fun as well! So Fhej,
what are we going to discuss for today?
Fhej So for our first episode, we are going to tackle the common rock forming mineral
using the physical properties.
John Lloyd Are you all ready? Let’s begin our learning experience! Let’s start on the definition
of Mineral. Jaymar, can you define what is a mineral?

<TRT>
SCENE 3 (FIRST PART)
CHARACTERS: Jaymar, Kera, Chloe, Marvilyn

NAMES DIALOGUES
Jaymar Yes I can! A mineral is a naturally occurring, in-organic solid, with a specific
chemical composition and a definite crystalline structure. Minerals can be
identified by their color, luster, streak, cleavage, hardness, and even by their
chemical composition. Using these properties is one way a Geologist defines and
identifies what kind of mineral a specimen is. Kera, you are the next one to
discuss!
Kera Got you Jaymar! The physical properties of minerals are determined by the atomic
structure and crystal chemistry of the minerals. The most common physical
properties are crystal form, color, hardness, cleavage, and specific gravity. One of
the best ways to identify a mineral is by examining its crystal form. What is a
crystal form? Its your time to shine Chloe!
Chloe Thank you Kera! Crystal habit is an external shape displayed by an individual
crystal, but more often it is an external shape displayed by an aggregate of
crystals. It refers to the crystal structure of a mineral as it grew in open space
before the formation of cleavage or fracture. This reflects the internal structure of
the atoms forming the minerals. Next is the color. Take it away Marvilyn!
Marvilyn Thanks Chloe! Color refers to the appearance of a mineral in its surface. Every
mineral has its own color that makes them unique from other minerals. It is also a
quick way to identify what kind of mineral is this. Color also is the most
recognizable properties of minerals because it is the easiest to found by just
looking at the mineral itself. But before that, our program will be back after this
short break, stay tuned!

SCENE 4: (COMMERCIAL TRIVIA)
CHARACTERS: John Lloyd, Fhej

NAMES DIALOGUES
Fhej Welcome to…. MAY TRIVIA AKO! VHAKLANG TWOH! Did you know that
scientists have stated that there are over 3,000 different types of minerals? And
each one of these minerals has its own chemical and physical compositions that
makes them very unique from each other!
John Lloyd Another trivia! Did you know that mineral crystals are so small that they can only
be viewed under a microscope? Because the crystals inside a mineral is very
small, It is impossible to be seen by our naked eye, so the scientist uses
microscope to better understand the crystals inside a mineral and visualize it!
Fhej Last one! Did you know that Eight elements account for most of the key
components of minerals, due to their abundance in the crust. These eight
elements, summing to over 98% of the crust by weight, are, in order of decreasing
abundance: oxygen, silicon, aluminum, iron, magnesium, calcium, sodium and
potassium!
John Lloyd And that’s it ladies and gentlemen! This is John Lloyd Aleonar
Fhej And this is Fhej Magallanes! See you all soon to the next trivia episode of MAY
TRIVIA AKO! VHAKLANG TWOH!

SCENE 5: (SECOND PART)

CHARACTERS: Bern, Ken, Alexander, John Mark, Aleck

NAMES DIALOGUES
Bern Regresamos! Welcome back to BONIFACIO TV! Thank you Marvilyn! Luster is
the relative differences in the opacity and transparency of a mineral as light is
reflected on its surface. This describes the 'sparkles' of the mineral surfaces. The
way that a mineral reflects light from its surface is called luster. There are two
types of luster, metallic luster and nonmetallic luster. Metallic luster refers to
minerals that are opaque, translucent, and have the appearance of polished
metal, while nonmetallic luster Applied to the luster of a mineral which reflects
light from its surface but does not shine like a metal. Do the honor for me Ken on
presenting the next.
Ken Thanks Bern! Hardness is a measure of how easily a mineral can be scratched.
German geologist Friedrich Mohs developed a scale by which an unknown
mineral’s hardness can be compared to the known hardness of ten minerals. The
minerals in the Mohs scale of mineral hardness were selected because they are
easily recognized and, with the exception of diamond, readily found in nature.
Alex, it your time!
Alexander Nice one Ken! Cleavage refers to the part where minerals break that produces a
smooth surface. It is the tendency of a mineral to break along flat planar surfaces
as determined by the structure of its crystal lattice. These two-dimensional
surfaces are known as cleavage planes and are caused by the alignment of
weaker bonds between atoms in the crystal lattice. The stage is yours John Mark!
John Mark My pleasure Alex! Streak is the color of a mineral when it is broken up and
powdered. It refers to the color of the mineral in powdered form. Streak is most
useful in identifying metallic minerals. The color of the streak is usually constant
for a given species of mineral, even though the mineral may vary considerably in
color as it occurs in the field. Indeed, the color of a streak may differ considerably
from the color of the un-powdered mineral. Aleck, can you present to us the last
property?
Aleck Of course! Tenacity refers to a mineral’s resistance to breaking, bending, or
otherwise being deformed.  A mineral may be brittle, easily broken or crushed to
powder; malleable, easily hammered into thin sheets (such as copper or
gold); sectile, easily cut with a knife; flexible, easily bent without breaking and then
staying bent; or elastic, bending but resuming its original shape once pressure is
released. Let’s move on to Ken and Jaymar!

MVO (BERN) : Q AND A NA! TARA NA!

<TRT>
SCENE 6: (Q AND A)
CHARACTERS: Ken, Jaymar

NAMES DIALOGUE
Ken Welcome everyone to Q AND A! And this time we have our correspondent,
Jaymar Alibango. He will be asked 3 questions that’s he need to be answered to
be able to understand more the different physical properties of a mineral. The first
question is. How would you describe Mineral?
Jaymar Minerals are substances that are formed naturally in the Earth. Rocks are made of
minerals. Minerals are usually solid, inorganic, have a crystal structure, and form
naturally by geological processes.
Ken Next question, What do you think is the most important physical properties to be
able to identify a Mineral?
Jaymar I think all of these physical properties are important to identify a mineral, I think we
need to consider every physical property to identify a mineral so that we can be
100% sure. And if we remove 1 property, we could not identify a mineral because
all of them are important.
Ken Last one, describe your favorite physical properties of a mineral.
Jaymar Tenacity refers to a mineral’s resistance to breaking, bending, or otherwise being
deformed. And that’s it!
Ken Thank you Jaymar!
Jaymar My pleasure Ken! Let’s go back to Jhem
