ACTIVITY 2
INFORMATIVE:
What is COVID-19? Where did it comes from, why did it spread rapidly? What are
the symptoms causing this kind of virus? And what are the precautionary measures we can
make to avoid the infection?

The Coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 is cause by a virus that can be passed,
it was first detected in December of 2019 in Wuhan, China, most especially in a night
market. And it has quickly spread around the world. According to the World Health
Organization. There are 147,539,302 confirmed cases around the world, having 3,116,444
confirmed deaths, and 223 countries, has been reportedly affected by the said virus. Having
its last update on April 27, 2021 at exactly 9:57 pm GMT +8. COVID-19 affects your
respiratory system. In some cases, it can cause problems most especially with your lungs
like Pneumonia. Guidelines and recommendations are changing daily as we research more
and learn more about the virus that cause the COVID-19. There are a lot of practical steps
where you can take to keep you and those around you safe and healthy. How does COVID-
19 spread? The virus is spread through droplets, so when the infected person coughs or
sneeze, they project infections into the air and can be breathed in by other people. Another
way it can be spread is when those infected droplets land on surfaces like handles and
elevator buttons. If a healthy person touches their eyes, nose or mouth, it is possible for
them to be infected. These are the gateways for the virus, so the less you touch these parts,
they less chance you get infected. Don’t ever touch your face. Wash it first with hand soap
and disinfect with alcohol or hand sanitizer. What are the symptoms of COVID-19? The
signs are fever, cough, body aches and trouble breathing, some less common symptoms
are headache, sore throat, runny nose, problems with sense of smell or taste, nausea or
diarrhea. If you aren’t feeling well. Better stay at home and call your doctor. What we should
do if you are feeling sick? Call a doctor urgently. If you are sick, cover your nose and mouth
with cloth mask, scarf, or handkerchief. What we should do if we are worried we’ve been
exposed? Your chances to get infected increases if you were within six feet of someone
who is infected, sharing a bed with them or traveled a location that has a lot of cases or you
were at a crowded event with someone who is infected. What we can do to stay healthy?
Wash your hands with soap and water. Spend some time washing your hands. Clean all the
things you encounter. If you don’t have any important agenda outside, you better stay at
home. How we can help slow the spread? You need to wash your hands daily, stay away to
the people who are sick. Wearing a face covering mask and practicing social distancing. By
taking these, we can beat the COVID-19 together.

PERSUASIVE:

Philippines is currently experiencing a tremendous strike on COVID-19 cases, mostly the

cases are surpassing about 11,000 a day and keep increasing every now and then, I
believe that the government doesn’t giving a full plan on how we beat the pandemic as the
NCR plus bubble (which include nearby provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and
Bulacan) are now under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) because
of the rapid spread of the infections. They don’t give us the full plan and their whole action
plan how to flatten the curve. A former Health Secretary addresses to the Congressmen that
they need a rapid action plan to beat the virus. As the cases are growing everyday, we need
to see a plan that will give us the right path on how the government address this pandemic.
We are now under a 1 year of community quarantine and no particular plan is being
addressed to the public. There are 5 systemic areas that needs strengthening in the whole
country, the first one is the disease surveillance, this is actually the disease information and
your disease intelligence. This system will tell your cases were getting higher and higher
and so on. The second one is the area of laboratories, most of the COVID-19 laboratories
are located in Metro Manila but it is not enough to test the whole country, we need to build
more laboratories outside the NCR to better test the whole population and easily confirmed
who are the people being infected in the places outside the National Capital Region. The
third one will be the primary care, in this area you’ll need to have physicians, nurses,
doctors, midwifes and other medical practitioners. We need to ensure that this kind of
system really exist on our war against the virus. The fourth one will be the quarantine
facility, we need to strengthen the quarantine facilities around the country and having one is
not enough in every places of the country most especially if that particular place is having a
large cases of COVID-19 every day. We need to build more quarantine facilities to make
sure that every patients will have their own quarantine facility to give them better health
care. And the last one was the area of critical care, we must have a full supply of beds,
staffs, oxygen tanks, PPE, and other medical necessities to give to those who are
experiencing severe cases that needs a critical care. As we face the possible outcomes of
this pandemic and we don’t know when the end of this. We must ensure to take care of
ourselves because it’s up to us keep us safe.

ARGUMENTATIVE

President Rodrigo Duterte orders ban vs travelers from Hubei Province of China, where
Wuhan City was located and where the COVID-19 virus originated from. According to Chief
Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, they are already confirming whether Duterte alongside with
DOH secretary Duque’s recommendation, has issued a travel ban on Chinese nationals
coming from the Hubei Province and also from other places from that area who will be
coming here in the country. But according to Vice President Leny Robredo says that the
threat of the coronavirus needs immediate action from the government itself, every minute
of delaying in taking action of the recommendations, it would only put the welfare and health
of citizens at risk. Robredo says that the ban should cover the whole China instead of
ordering a ban on a particular province of China. The senators also pushing for an extended
travel ban. Senator Joel Villanueva said that the other countries should also be part of it. If
there is a possibility a carrier can bring the virus here. Provinces of Cebu, Negros Oriental
orders to quarantine tourists from China for 14 days. According to one of the framers of
1987 Philippine Constitution: Duterte has power to decide on issuance of travel bans. Let’s
understand the context. Duterte bans the Chinese nationals coming from Hubei province to
enter the Philippines because of the newly discovered coronavirus diseases originating from
China. I think that the Philippine government should impose a month long travel ban from all
provinces of China to better secured our country against the virus to enter our nation. But
because of the president’s decision
