The film "Dekada '70" depicts the struggles of a middle-class Filipino family during Ferdinand Marcos' martial law period in the 1970s. It focuses on how the family is impacted by the oppressive government, showing torture methods used by the military and thousands killed. It also explores humanistic and social theories, such as gender inequality and the family's efforts to stay together despite challenges from their differences and the regime.

The film that I want to represent as a subject of my analysis is the
Filipino movie “Dekada ‘70”. The film is basically about the life of a Filipino family during the Marcos Era especially when Martial Law happened. Throughout the film the main focus is on the middle class family, who struggles in Marcos Era. The psychological theories of this film are Humanistic, Personality, and Social Theories. The characters in the film has different personalities, perspectives, and beliefs about the government and faces many challenges and struggles. Under the humanistic theory, the film has a problem with gender inequality. Amanda is a typical mother, who stayed home and do the chores, and when she was looking for a job, her husband Julian stopped her from pursuing it. In a way she seems to have a conflict with herself because she realizes how much less of an authority she has compared to her husband. Under the social theory, the movie showed the various torture methods used by military. Thousands of people killed during the martial law. This family does not openly deal with the oppressive government but also struggles to keep their family intact despite their unique differences.
