INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

3-Excpected time: - 1.00 hr. (answer as you can) –
4- more than 2 years' experience in Dubai (Q 1 to 5; 8 to 10; 10-12-14-16; 20 to 27; 29-31-33) are mandatory

1- It is your first day on site as site engineer; what is your plan to start your position?

2-your manager asked you to list the takeoff list (sequences of items) for sub structure?

3- What is your responsibilities as a site engineer, manager, and safety engineer? (In brief)
4- Draw the reinforcement details for the following concrete elements (in brief) – draw BMD for each
element?

a) Staircase flight (RFT details) b- Raft foundation (RFT details)

c) Column across 2 floors d) Continuous beam at least 2 spans.
e) Hollow block slab continuous from two sides.
5- tomorrow you have to pour concrete for raft – what is you plan?

6- What Concrete Delivery Note should show? And what are the tests you need once the car mix
comes?

7- What is result for 7 days cubic crushed (fcu = 500 kg/cm2; what if it fails after 7 days and also 28
days?

8- Column sections decreased in third floor (high rise building) how does this effect for
reinforcement steel? 1 year later, after completion the building, Owner decided to increase 1 floor;
what about columns? Clear your answer with sketches.

9-What are the types of shoring used in high rise buildings? Draw sketch for each type? Also List out the
required Dubai Municipality tests for Centre Piles?
10- What it means by tower crane, where it locates in the building and for which kind of building we
use it? What is foundation size? Also what is the maximum load on tower crane edge?

11- Explain briefly the steps of checking for the following items:-

1-raft reinforcement 2- excavation 3- columns (steel) 4-flat and PT slab ( shuttering )

 12-your manager out of site and called you and told, please engineer! Change the direction of column
C6 – what is your action about this? –note :- you and your manger are one of consultant staff.]

13- for attached drawing, please List out the information we can get from that (depth, levels & etc)
Draw the section 03 for attached layout also the length of dowels?
Calculate the height of chair & dowels for attached raft layout?
Take quantity for additional bars for W2 wall (Axis 12-12 & H-H)
If the basement slab level at -3.15, what is the tall of longitude bar we need.

14-what are the locations and the lengths of splices (overlap) for every item:-

1- Raft ( D=40 mm) 2- columns ( D=20mm ) 3- beams (D=12mm ) 4- R.Walls (D=16mm)

- Reinforcement of a big slab have been done ; consultant rejected the inspections because of ; all
over lab splices are less than the required . how can overcome this problem without removing
installed steels ?
15- What information we get from soil report?

16- Columns resist compression force, why we need steel for them?

17- What the maximum load for column (0.30*0.30) m – RFT (8≠16), Fcu =300 kg/cm2.

18-for scaffolding. Draw it for flat slab? Also when we can remove it after casting?

19- We have beam with 3 spans (5-1.2-3.5) m – draw BMD? And steel reinforcement?

20- In UAE- what the unit price for every item :- ( you can assume the type you need)?
-Concrete - blocks 3- cement and sand - reinforcement - marble
 21- List out the required Dubai Municipality NOCs for a High rise Building?

22- List out the required safety requirements at site ?

23- List out the labour productivity rates for below items ( 1 mason + 1 helper )

-Solid Block - Hollow Block –normal plaster - Machine Plaster - Ceramic Wall Tiles - Ceramic Wall Tiles
- Ceramic Floor Tiles

24- What is the Shovel Bucket Volume?

26- What is the required Corridor width as per Civil Defence?

27- What are the required Service Rooms as per Dubai Municipality?
28- Explain to steel fixer how to construct steel reinforcement for columns?

29- List-out the acceptable risk in Block Works & how we can control those?

30- Why we are providing Expansion joints in masonry walls?

31- Share an example of how you have applied your skills to on-site work in finishes stage

32- List-out the Method Statement for Floor Finishes - Tiling Works?
33- Incase if you face a situation like lack of labor force in your site, how you will manage the works
without affecting the schedule, since you have a big span project in your hand?

34- Explain how you will manage and take precaution to avoid below situations, with the procurement
department

-Since you don’t have a plan, but you need the specific material on urgent basis

-They delivered a wrong material instead of what you required?
