“Women are less engaged in criminal activities than men”

I am bothered about the increasing crime rates in the world that is mostly done by men and that
the victims of those crimes are mostly women. I am concerned for the women who experiences the abuses
of men and angered by how men use their strength to take advantage of the women. I chose this topic
because I want men to have a proper discipline and learning in the way they should act, talk and treat
others. I want women to be protected and have the justice that they deserve to have. Men are believed to
be impulsive, stubborn and injudicious while women are caring, understanding, and emphatic. Men and
women surely have a lot of differences and those differences can have a big impact in our society, either a
good or a bad one.

According to the article entitled: Why are men more likely to be violent than women?
It is said that men are the major perpetrators of violent crime and the Data from the United States for the
period of 1980 to 2008, for example, shows that men are the ones who is responsible for the 90% of the
murders committed during that period. It is also said that men are also the major victims of violent crime.
In the same US data, it shows that 77% of the murder victims over those same two decades were also
men. Women on the other hand, are the ones who are more likely to be the victims, rather being the
perpetrators, of violent crime. There are a lot of factors why women are less engaged in illicit activities
than men. The first factor is the way of learning which affects the second factor which is the behavior. It
is believed that men should be taught toughly, unfeeling, and boldly for them to be able to protect the
others. That is why men comes up with the thinking that they are fearless and strong which sometimes
results into the abuse of their strength and capability to fight. They think that they are powerful enough to
do whatever that they want. Women on the other hand, are taught gently, sophistically and more tightly
supervised. That is why women are more disciplined, understanding and caring. Women are also believed
to be usually kept at home to do family responsibilities while men are always out for work and that
thinking proceeds to the third factor which is the social roles. According to the article entitled: Plato and
Aristotle on the Nature of Women Plato declares that women must be assigned social roles in the ideal
state equal to those of men and that “women and men have the same nature in respect to the guardianship
of the state, save insofar as the one is weaker and the other is stronger”. But it is said that only one
generation later Aristotle, in his politics, returns women to their traditional roles in the home, sub serving
men. It is also said that Nature provides no such equality in Aristotle and declares “as regards the sexes,
the male is by nature superior and the female inferior, the male is the ruler and the female is the subject”.
With that thinking and with those differences in teaching, even men in this time presume that they have
the power over women that is mostly resulting into violence and abuse. Men began to think that women
are just their slaves and that they must do everything they command. They are becoming ruthless,
aggressive, competitive and greedy with the power that they have which leads men to become more
engaged in the wrong doings and make the women to frequently become the suspect. According to Edith
Stein, “The feminine nature is to stay by another human being’s side, participating in his life with love,
fidelity, and readiness to serve”. “She helps a lonely person in need, she is a companion”. “She has a
special gift to bring to society: her love which fights evil and serves others in their personhood”. Stein
also includes, ‘Everywhere the need exists for maternal sympathy and help, and thus we are able to
recapitulate in the one word “motherliness” that which we have developed as the characteristic value of
woman’. In stein’s statements, it appears that women are caring, loving, helping, emphatic, and God-
fearing which makes them more engaged in good doings rather than bad because they have those good
traits and qualities opposite than men. They have that motherliness in them that urges them to always

help, take care of the others and be forgiving and emphatic. Those statements show how women are such
a great human being in which they bring their society close to each other. They are practicing good things
that gives peace and love to our world.

According to the article entitled: Ever wondered why women are so emotional? It is said that
women feel differently compared to men. They cry over flipping things especially when they are going
through their PMS or when pregnant. There is so much change going on in a woman’s body every month
that at times dealing with normal issues also seems like a task. That is why when in pain or stress, they
appear to be more emotional. Men undergo changes with comparatively less intensity, and they don’t get
emotionally moved easily. That’s the way they are made. So, if you look from a man’s perspective,
women appear to be more emotional. So, somehow, women are easily triggered by their emotions which
can lead to violence. Unlike men who is affectless, women on the other hand, are full of emotions.
Because of having a lot of emotions, women sometimes are lacking control of it. They are being carried
away with their feelings which leads them to do things unexpectedly and engages them to do wrong
doings. They are losing their sense of thinking because their emotion takes over them. It is sometimes
hard for them to control their feelings because they have a soft and fragile heart which sometimes results
in doing unpleasant things unlike men who is believed to be hard hearted. Women are mostly known to be
dramatic and easily angered. They mostly like to take revenge once they experienced extreme hurt. They
will do anything just to give back the pain that they have felt even if it results into violence. Another
emotion that women are blinded by and the reason to most of their wrong doings is jealousy. It can be
jealousy in material things, life status or jealousy to another human being. Women loves to take care of
themselves so that they could have a good public appearance. They also want to have a good reputation
and image towards the public because somehow it is their way to be confident about their selves and once
they have seen that someone is better than them they will make a way to make themselves even more
better than the others which can lead them to do unpleasant or illicit doings. Women can also feel
insecurities towards other women, for instance is when it comes to love. They are being anxious to lose
their partners to other women. They are afraid that their partners might find someone who is better than
them and might eventually leave them which leads them to hold into violence. They think that it is best to
threaten and do harmful things to their partners and the other women so that they would be frightened and
do not make any contacts with each other or others anymore. Women can sometimes be aggressive too
because of the mixed emotions they are feeling due to different situations that they are experiencing.

Men and Women really have a lot of differences, can be in the way of learning, behavior and
social roles. Men have a strong trait while women have the opposite. Men loves the authority and thinks
that they are superior against women. They are becoming reckless, aggressive and abusive. Men lacks
self-control and considerations. Men likes to think that they have the power to do everything they want,
when they want it and how they want it. Men lack emotions and empathy towards the others. They are
more engaged in criminal activities than women because of their behaviors and social roles as well. They
are not afraid of taking risks and doing dangerous things because they are being blinded by their power
and strength. Women on the other hand, are caring, loving, helping, God-fearing and emphatic. They like
to think first of what the others will feel if they get to do an action. They are making sure that they will
not do something that is illegal and against the will of God. They love to socialize and help others who
are in need. They are much more considerate and emphatic towards others, they can be talked easily, and
their motherliness will always be present upon them. Somehow their feelings and emotions take over
them which leads them to make unpleasant things but because of their loving personality and their great
love towards their family, the others and God they are being considerate and forgiving towards the others.
Women also becomes violent because of how men and the society treat them. They are being treated in a
bad manner in which it hurts them and makes them come up with the thinking that they should be
tougher, stronger and someone who are also threatening to the others but because women are emphatic
they learn to overcome their anger and show care, instead of fighting. This research makes the public
aware of how kind, soft-hearted, helpful, and considerate women are. This shows that the women can do a

lot of great things that makes our world a pleasant place to live with. Women symbolizes our Mother
Mary as someone who is caring loving and God-fearing. This shows that women have a lot of good
qualities and traits which makes them have a lot of capabilities. This shows that women are not just
someone who should be kept at home and be a servant to her other half and her family, surely women can
do a lot more than that. This research makes the public specifically men aware that women should be
treated right with love and respect and not as someone who is a slave and a victim of criminal activities.
This makes the public aware of the great capabilities a woman has and how good women are. There
should be equal rights to both sexes, no one should be superior and inferior. Men who acts violently and
abusively should have a proper discipline and undergo counselling learning and women’s safety should
also be a priority.
