Country music is a mixture of musical elements such as blues, church music such as the Southern

Gospel, and American folk forms of music from the Appalachian Mountains. . Its popularized roots
originated in the Southern and Southwestern United States in the early 1920s.

The spread of country music in fact cannot be separated from the role of immigrants in the early 19th
century. Beginning with groups of immigrants from various regions in Europe such as Ireland, Britannia,
Germany, to Spain. This immigrant group is widely spread in the Texas area, where they unite with
Mexican-Americans and Native Americans.

At that time Texas was known as an area famous for its fertile grass. This condition makes many cattle

However, at the beginning of its appearance, country music was not necessarily synonymous with
cowboys. There are several phases of the development of country music recorded in history. Each phase

The first recorded commercial country music recording was present in 1922. Country music was
increasingly recognized after John Carson with his country-style violin playing on his album entitled
"Little Log Cabin in The Land" produced by Okeh Records in 1923. After that many other country music
recordings like the album 'Old Familiar Tunes' in 1924.

Not to forget the Carter Family group, which for 17 consecutive years since 1927 recorded 300 Old-time
ballads, traditional songs, country music, and gospel hymns which are cultural heritages from the
southeastern United States and have become the history of country music there. .

In the 1930-1940s the history of country music continued, country songs were often recorded and later
became popular thanks to being screened in several Hollywood films. Bob Wills is one of the country
musicians who played in Hollywood films. He plays country music mixed a little with jazz, and is known
for the western swing.

In the years 1939-1945 the history of country music developed, country music called country boogie
appeared, the popular song was "Freight Train Boogie" from the Delmore brothers. The song is
considered part of the evolution of country and blues music towards the formation of Rockabilly.

In the mid 1950's to early 1960's, the history of country music continued until the birth of the rhythm
known as the "Nashville Sound" turned country music into a multimillion dollar industry, this is because
this band originated in the recording industry of Nashville, Tennessee.

Country musicians who belong to the nashville sound genre such as Patsy Cline, Jim Reeves, Floyd
Cramer and then Tammy Wynette and Charlie Rich. The history of country music continues in 1956, this
year can be called the year of rockabilly for country music.

Along with the development of the times and the music industry, country music was fused into several
sub-genres such as country pop. Not only that, there is also a sub-genre of country rock.
In the 1990s, country music grew with the presence of globally successful musicians such as Garth
Brooks. Not only male musicians, female musicians who carry country music also have a role in
expanding the expansion of country music. Among them are Reba McEntire, Patty Loveless, Faith Hill,
Martina McBride, Deana Carter, LeAnn Rimes, Mindy McCready, Lorrie Morgan, Shania Twain, and Mary
Chapin Carpenter.

The existence of country music, which continues to this day, is also due to Taylor Swift's role as the most
successful country musician in the late 2000s to 2010s. Swift first became widely known in 2006 when
her debut single, "Tim McGraw," was released when Swift was just 16 years old. In 2006, Swift released
her self-titled debut studio album, which spent 275 weeks on the Billboard 200, one of her longest-
serving studio albums.
