An ideal caption is made up of the following parts:

 Statements that answer the questions "who, what, where, when"


 A statement that answers why the captioned media is significant (can be stated or implied)
 Credit

Language features in captions:

A caption text is written in present tense and active voice. Don't forget to include credit for the
photographer of the picture.

Caption often uses prepositional, infinitive, adjectival and present participle phrases.

Present participles are similar to gerund. Both have the same form (verb-ing), but have different
functions. A gerund acts like a noun while a present participle acts like a verb or adjective.

1. Prepositional Phrase:
A phrase that contains a preposition and its object. (e.g in, on, at...).
 "British solo artist Martha Kent delivers her hit songs at the Royal Albert Hall on October 21,
2019 to raise money for the homeless. (ZS/Zoe Perry)"
2. Infinitive Phrase:
A phrase that contains the "to-infinitive" form of a verb and any direct objects and modifiers
(adverbs). (to+v1).

3. Adjective Phrase:
A phrase that describes a noun or pronoun.
 "A visually impaired man walks on a special path for the blind at Pondok Cina railway station
in Depok, West Java on Monday. Activists have pushed for more and better facilities and
access for disabled people in public transportation facilities to support their mobility.

4. Gerund:
A verb+ing which acts as a noun.
 "Running in marathons is considered as the sporting trend of 2018, survey says. (SN/Dwi
Tiara)"
5. Present Participle Phrase:
A phrase beginning with a present participle(verb+ing)which functions as an adjective.
(describes a noun/pronoun)
 Cillian Grant, the president of Eppol Inc., poses with the new MagBook Aries on its launch
day on September 21 at the Eppol headquarters. Quoting some specification improvements
over its predecessors, Eppol claims the new product as "the best laptop in the history of
