Green Campus Charter 1 PDF
In the purview of making our new campus a “Green Campus” we are working towards zero
waste campus. Fostering this culture and practicing from the very first day will make a
genuine impact towards the waste management and achieving our goal. As a part of this
initiative, we have formulated some guidelines. All the students are hereby advised to adhere
to these guidelines and instructions, help each other to make a difference.
RECYCLABLE WASTE
• Paper
All paper the paper needs to be recycled. Paper to be recycled is of two types:
1. Newspapers: newspapers should be put into cardboard boxes (cartons) placed on each floor of all
hostels.
2. A4 sheets: wasted prints from printers, or old assignments or unwanted A4 sheets should be kept in a
tray kept near the printers in each hostel. This is a superior quality paper and should be kept
separately.
All the paper to be recycled should be UNSOILED. Which means it should be clean of any stain from
food or anything, in other words it should be clean. This does not include Tissue paper, paper towels,
wax paper (these should be thrown as landfill waste).
Put the organic waste (food leftovers) and all soft plastics (wrappers etc.) as well into
PLASTIC buckets as currently we are not creating compost or biogas from organic waste.
Hazardous materials, such as non-alkaline batteries and CFL bulbs, should not be placed into
trash bins.
• Other miscellaneous items like glass bottles, wood/clothes, electric wires, shoes,
broken glass, batteries etc. should not be disposed in the dustbin. They should be kept
separately.
• Lights and fans should be turned off when not in use. Before leaving the room, make
sure to turn off all the electric appliances for reducing energy wastage.
• Try not to waste food in the mess. Mess authorities keep a proper track of food getting
wasted. Take all you can eat but eat all that you take.
• Printing paper should be used judiciously. Late night submission and deadline chaos
result in unnecessary wastage by duplicate printing of same files. Unnecessary printing
and wastage of paper will be dealt strictly with
• Do not waste water in the washrooms. If you see taps open, please turn them off. Also
please switch off the geysers when not in use.
