Mr. John Byron Ubaldo is 19 years old and currently living in Chicago with his family. He is a
responsible, kind and understanding man, but behind this good man he has insecurities and
anxiety.

Greeting the patient is necessary for a good start conversation. Introduction to self is
therapeutic technique and asking permission will maintain client’s importance. Providing
general lead is like facilitating discussion with the open-ended question, also to maintain eye
contact to convey interest to what the patient is saying. Allowing silence for him to focus and to
organize his thoughts. Keep being open minded and let the client share his thoughts and feelings
and stay on the topic even if its uncomfortable or difficult. Listens actively to the patient by
using SOLER Technique makes him more comfortable about expressing his feelings. Use of an
open-ended question allowed the opportunity for Mr. Ubaldo to express and to tell me in his own
words about his feelings. It is an effective way to get more information and keeping the
conversation focused.
