Students will create a 3-d illusion zentangle design on 12 x12 white
paper, using the yin yang symbol as the main image of the design. Students will create the main image of the yin yang with a 1" border lightly in pencil. Once this is done, students will then fill in the opposing sides of the yin yang with a contrast of black and white sharpie vs. watercolor. Students will learn how the origins of the zentangle patterns came from the desire to create designs that were soothing and calming, following the concept of Zen, and the artists involved with the production of the step by step books were looking to give simple directions on how to achieve a sense of peace and calm with the designs.
