Introduction

Trees play an important role isn increasing urban biodiversity, providing plants and

animal with a favourable habitat, food and protection. Especially in cities with high levels of

pollutuion, trees can improve air quality, making cities healthier places to live in. Research over

the years has confirmed the immense value and benefits that mature urabn trees offer our cities.

And the more mature the tree, the greater benefit, so its critical trees are planted with mature

establishment in mind. Few things can compare with the aesthetic impact and seasonal interest

that trees offer the urban setting. They provide huge visual appeal to any area and can

significantly enhance the design of a streetscape. Trees have also been proven to have a positive

impact on skin care, asthma, hypertension, and other stress realted illness by filtering out

polluted air reducing smog formation, providing shade from solar radiation, and providing an

attractive, calming setting for recreation.

Need for this study

It is estimated that the trees are planted around the park at the city which estimated to be

consisted 10-15 shading trees like Northern Red Oak (Catalpa speciosa) and this is a tree that

demands your attention. White, showy flowers. Giant heart-shaped leaves. Dangling bean-like

seed pods. Twisting trunk and branches. And with all of these unique features, the northern

catalpa is popular with kids as well. While not ideal for every location, this unique and hardy tree

is a fast grower that finds a home in parks and yards throughout the country, Scott (2003). And

for the sidewalks, the trees that is used like the umbrella tree around 5 meters planted from

another tree along the sidewalk.

Background

Trees improve the livability of our cities for countless reasons. However, for many years

tree canopy in our urban areas has been decreasing. Large mature trees which reach the end of

their lives are often replaced with smaller species - if at all. These replanted trees then struggle to

establish and reach maturity due to the demands of paved surrounds around them, (Spencer

2012). (2006) Trees function as an excellent natural thermoregulatory. With their shade and the

water vapor released by their leaves, they lower the temperature between 2 and 8 ºC on

sunny days. In the same way, they prevent the quick evaporation of the water used to water the

lawns, which means saving both natural resources and money. In addition, trees also benefit

indigenous biodiversity, providing food and shelter for different types of animals that enrich the

fauna of the environment. Furthermore it also benefits the population of the area as it

provides fruits that reactivate the economy, like urban gardens do. According to the FAO (Food

and Agriculture Organization) trees in cities also help to revalue the area where they've been

planted, helping to achieve increase revenue of up to 20% in comparison to those areas of the

city where there is no vegetation. Finally, when it comes to physical exercise, for most people

wooded areas pose a much better setting than the streets made up only of concrete and asphalt,

(Simpson 2005).

The research paper seeks to achieve the effectivity of plant a tree project for shade,

serenity and sustainability at the city by focusing on the following specific objectives:

1. To establish and maintain maximum tree cover.

2. To raise awareness to the society in the importance of planting and saving trees.

3. To diminish the unfavorable effects of climate change.

Research Question

1. Does planting trees in the city are beneficial to the people?

2. How significant is the role of the trees in the city?

3. Is there any effect on planting trees at the city?

Methodology

This study used the descriptive survey method as data gathering research style which will

solicit information on existing programs of the government, The instrument was conformed to

the statement that desire with the sub problems of the effectivity of plant a tree project for shade,

serenity and sustainability at the city. The four point scale was used to analyze the data which

were gathered in order to determine the effectivity of plant a tree project for shade, serenity and

sustainability at the city.

Research Timeline

The project is expected to be completed in 17 weeks with the following indicated as the

activities durations for every section of the research project:
