Good evening, my name is Elvis Madrid

I have the pleasure to tell you about my talk about landforms

A landform is a geomorphological unit . We can also define it as one of the

different shapes that the Earth's terrain has. 1 Landforms are classified by
characteristics such as elevation , slope , orientation , stratification , rock
formation , and soil type . Examples of geographical features are mountains, cliffs,
valleys, (etc). 2 The oceans and continents are the highest order
accidents. The elements of the geographical features are those parts that can be
identified in them, being observed in several of them. Generic elements of
landforms can be extracted from a digital elevation model using some automatic or
semi-automatic techniques in which the data has been collected by modern
satellites and stereoscopic aerial surveillance cameras.

In geography , a plain is a large expanse of flat or slightly undulating land. Plains

can be found in lowlands, generally below 200 meters above sea level or at the
bottom of valleys . Plateaus are also found , at altitudes above 500 m and at higher
elevations, on plateaus .
In geography, a plateau 1 is an extensive plateau , generally consisting of relatively
flat terrain, rising significantly above the surrounding area, often with one or more
deep hilly sides. It can be created by tectonic forces, by erosion of the surrounding
terrain, or by the emergence of an underwater plateau.
A mountain is a positive landform topographic form ,
a natural eminence characterized by its altitude and, more generally, by its relative
height, or even by its volume, slope , spacing, or continuity.

A rock formation , in geomorphology , is an accident that describes isolated rocky

outcrops , which in general stand out for their landscape qualities. They are
generally the result of weathering and erosion that have been sculpting the existing
rock. Rock formations, in general, refer to certain sedimentary strata or a rock unit
in other stratigraphic and petrological studies .
A rock structure can be created in any type or combination of rocks:

• the sedimentary rocks were created from rock fragments that emerged from
other rocks by wind erosion and water, and then were deposited by wind, ice or
water. Erosion later exposed them in their present form. One example is the
many rocky outcrops or fairy chimney in the National Park Bryce Canyon in
Utah;
• the metamorphic rocks were created by the rocks that had been transformed
into another kind of rock, usually by heat and pressure. An example is
the Seneca Rocks in West Virginia ;
• the igneous rocks were created when molten rock cooled and solidified, with or
without crystallization. They can be plutonic or extrusive. Once again, the
erosive forces sculpted their current forms. An example is Half Dome ,
in Yosemite National Park .

Among the importance of landforms we have to:

They are an important source of resources

They improve the economy of the place for being a great tourist attraction

They are sites of historical interest and a natural barrier

Shape different types of weather

It allows studies on the environmental, social and cultural impact.
