Greg Hanson – Career’s advisor

As a career’s advisor, I try to help people find a job they will be good at and enjoy doing. The first thing I try
to find out about a person is about their qualifications and skills. With young people, I try to find out what they
would find interesting enough to study. Personality is also very important when it comes to choosing a job. If
you are an impatient person, you probably won’t make a good doctor even if you have very good exam
results from school or university. However, if you enjoy helping people and find it easy to communicate with
them, then you might find being a doctor very rewarding. I ask people to tell me about their life, what they
enjoy doing, what hobbies and leisure activities they take part in and whether they do any voluntary work.
This can help give me a good picture about what kind of work they would be most suitable for. I enjoy my job
because I can help people find a career that they will be happy in. Sometimes, when I get a client, they are
very confused about what they want to do. However, after talking to me they have a much clearer picture
about what they want from their future. I hope that everybody I help will get as much job satisfaction from
their work as I do from mine.
