More and more Peruvians have access to the internet. In 2015, only 52%
of the population had this service, and by the end of 2016 this figure
grew to 66%.

The smartphone has become the main means of access to the internet
mainly the youngest; while the elderly choose to access the internet
from their computers.

The main activities that users perform on the Internet are: entering
social networks (76%), chatting (50%), searching for information (47%)
and reading emails (30%). Young people between the ages of 18 and 34
enjoy listening to music, watching videos, series and movies on the
internet; adults between the ages of 35 and 50 are more interested in
general information than others; and people between 51 and 70 years of
age go online to read their emails more often than others.

Facebook positions itself as the preferred one by all with 92%, without
distinction of age, gender or socioeconomic level. Then there’s
Whatsapp with 64%. It is followed by Google+ (29%); and in following
positions are Twitter (23%), Instagram (14%) and Snapchat (4%)
respectively.

Also Online Shopping In the last year, 86% of people surveyed said they
had not made online purchases.
