Growing up, I have always wanted to become an educator in order to inspire people. However,
my parents forced me to take up BS in Biology in order to become Doctor, when they learn that
it is not passion, they have stopped sending me to school. So, I have to work in order to save
money for my education. And hold and behold, I graduated as a teacher. Furthermore, I came to
realize that when you become a teacher, you should not stop learning because new trends
keeps on booming. In addition, I came to realized that when you are teaching, it is not all about
you but your students, like a mother feeding her children the best way she could. This is the very
 reason why I have taken my Master's Degree in English in order to further grow and develop as
a teacher and at the same time as an adult. In line with this, I am planning to take up a
Doctoral's degree.

Life has never been easy, but with prayers and supplication I starting to achieve my goals and
purpose in life. I am deeply inspired and motivated by people who never stops learning, just like
our Dean, Doctor Nova Rodil and our Chairperson Doctor Melca Cabanggangan. They both
made me realize that the purpose of teaching and my calling is feed the minds of students in
order for them to become life-long learning and sometimes in order to provide quality education,
you have to sacrifice your own personal happiness.

conducted. Why was this of interest to you?
How did this contribute to the discipline?*
I have written about developing reading comprehension using guided and close reading as my
research paper. If you would ask if this is because of my interest, my answer would be a big NO.
I have conducted this research for the benefits of my students. Why? Because, some students in
remote areas have really poor reading comprehension and I am willing to be sent to far flung
areas just to help and educate them. In addition, it has contributed to my passion as an educator
because without comprehension, reading is a frustrating, pointless exercise in word calling.

intend to study or explore. How will this
contribute to the discipline?*
Freedom of Choice in Education Research because it provides guidance for future students as
to what course they will be taking into college and fulfill their passion. In addition, the findings
and recommendations of this research may invite, if not assist, post-secondary institutions to
increase interest and improve its quality and usefulness in offering variety of courses which
promotes outcome-based or performance-performance based learning, as well as guide
instruction and assessment across disciplines. In addition, there are many students who really
cannot pursue what they want because of different aspects, it could be personal or financial and
many others. This is the reason why we need to enlighten them by providing options. Finally, it
will help students to determine as to what they want to achieve in life by feeding their passion,
purpose and talents.

ELIGIBILITY CERTIFICATION

2. I am employed as a Teaching Personnel in an HEI, or have been employed as a Teaching Personnel within
the last twelve (12) months, at the time of application;
3. I do not hold an administrative or management position by the time of application and shall certify the same
during the duration of the scholarship;
4. I do not hold full-time employment in any government agency, or private company by the time of
application and shall certify the same during the duration of the scholarship;
5. I shall comply with the eligibility restrictions provided for the chosen grant (full-time or part-time);
6. I have been admitted to a CHED-approved graduate program;
7. I shall be pursuing a program vertically articulated to my teaching discipline;
8. I do not hold a degree in the degree level being pursued (i.e. applicants for a scholarship for doctorate
degree, must not already possess a doctorate degree);
9. I am of age that will allow me to render sufficient return service after obtaining her/his graduate degree;
10. I am not enjoying any other government-funded scholarship or grant at the time of application;
11. I am committed to complete the degree program requirements within the study duration; and
12. I do not have a relative, up to the fourth (4th) degree of consanguinity or affinity, to any CHED employee in
the CHED Regional Office (CHED RO) where the application is being processed.
