PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND FASCINATING

STORIES

The method of focusing on a single object in the world for a set amount of
time is known as selective attention, and this image perfectly depicts this
concept. One is constantly bombarded with sensory information at a
given time. In most situations, though, one does not pay attention to each
of these sensory sensations. Instead, the focus is drawn to a few key
aspects of one's surroundings, while others fade into the background or
slip by almost unnoticed. This concept is key for perfectly practicing
meditation. This widespread style of Buddhist practice consists of
maintaining moment-by-moment selective focus on a chosen object, it
could be the breathing pattern, emotions, values, health, peace, etc. It
enables one to tune out unimportant information and concentrate on the
(Scharpenburg, 2017)
important things.

Selective Attention in Meditation

Around the age of four, Akiana Krameric began experiencing visions she

(Kramarik, 2020)
started experiencing through drawings. She was five years old when her
drawings resembled those of an adult artist, and by the age of eight, she
had drawn the famous 'Prince of Peace', which she had seen in a vision.
This painting went on to sell for almost a million dollars. She is considered
a genius of visual-spatial intelligence, the capacity to perfectly visualize
images, things, or figures and portray them. The founder of the theory of
multiple intelligence, Howard Gardner, characterized this intelligence as
“a special cognitive system characterized by the abilities to vividly
perceive the external and internal visual worlds, to modify the initial
perception, and to reconstruct aspects of one's visual experience.”

Jackie was one of the guests on a TV show in Germany where performed

a stunt by breaking 12 cement blocks with his fist holding an egg, without
cracking it. A mind-blowing event that showed the powers of Bodily-
kinesthetic intelligence. Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence was stated by
Howard Gardner in the theory of multiple intelligence. Those who have
high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence have a mastery of body movement,
performing actions, and physical control. People with good hand-eye
coordination and dexterity are effective in this field. While Jackie Chan
has posed high bodily-kinesthetic intelligence in many films, as a martial

artist, actor, and stunt performer, this stunt had put him on the map in his

Jackie Chan's mindblowing stunt career.

Birds like parrots or the African grey bird are not only intelligent animals The Bird that saw everything
but are also conscious, self-aware, and use language not just to (Braitman, 2016)

communicate with one another but also to communicate with people.

An African Grey Bird, named Bud became a testimony for Martin
Durham’s murder case. It recreated the incident by imitating Martin’s
voice and his dialogues where he constantly repeated the sentence,
“Don’t shoot”. Glenna Durham was found guilty of shooting Martin five
times in May 2015. Initially, Glenna was seen as a victim as she suffered a
head wound. But the parrot’s statement changed the entire case.
This and other various cases of animals possessing human language are
evidence that certain species of animals are capable to grasp basic
linguistic concepts such as word order and grammar.
