Vergara, Aaron Charles C3A

THE TASK:

We are in the 4.0 industrial revolution era where artificial intelligence is becoming a part of our
daily lives. This is very evident with the integration of intelligent machines in engineering,
research, education, law enforcement, marketing, manufacturing and the like. And as a
computer science student, we should be able to comprehend more the impact of this
technology in all aspects of our lives. With AI, can you imagine what the future will look like?
What kind of intelligent systems are we going to develop for mankind 3 years or five years from
now?

• For this activity, try to reflect on what our society will be with artificial intelligence
continue to conquer our world.
• What will be its effect to the community or society as a whole?
• What will be your greatest fear of AI in our future?

The incorporation of AI within our societies has displayed significant growth to the
individuals and businesses that are able to utilize it to its current potential. Different sectors
of society can provide more beneficial services to society, as AI assist in handling the complex
and exhaustive work that would be difficult for normal humans to handle in their daily lives.
AI in our lives has such been a crucial aspect of convenience and utility in our technology that
plenty of people do not recognize that AI is used within these functionalities. Looking into the
future, AI would be much more prominent in every aspect of our life, tasked specifically for
specialty work. Any kind of specialized or exhaustive work that currently still haven’t utilized
Narrow AI will surely be incorporating it in the future, and the development of a AGI (Artificial
General Intelligence) or General AI would be underway development for a more commercial
or enterprise use, if not developed already.

The biggest fear on AI for me is not the concept of having evil robots but having a general-
purpose AI technology that advances beyond human capabilities that is misaligned with
human goals and values. It becomes a dangerous system not due to malicious intent but due
to an oversight in programming that allows it to do things that it is never inten ded to do. With
sufficient intelligence, such AI would be difficult to stop, if not impossible, and would cause
many issues in our society that would greatly affect the technological, economical, and social
aspects that makes it function.
