Identify Features of Persuasive Texts
As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You
also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to manage their own
learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as they do
the tasks included in the module.
For the Learner:
Welcome to the English 10 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Identify Features
of Persuasive Texts.
Most of us feel wanting to do something to try to win the arguments we engage in. On
some level, we all want to be right, and we all want others to see the error of their ways.
More times than not, however, arguments in which both sides try to win end up producing
losers all around. The more productive approach is to persuade your audience to consider
your opinion as a valid one, not simply the right one.
Persuasive text is a form of nonfiction writing that encourages careful word choice, the
development of logical arguments, and cohesive summary.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for
guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to
process the contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.
What I Need to Know
This module will assist you in encouraging the learners to develop their
understanding of how writing can influence or change another’s thoughts or actions.
Please help the learners in sharing their ideas and knowledge from their
experiences so that there will be collaboration and learning will be easy.
Answers are written at the back of this module. Inculcate to the learners the value
of honesty while answering this module.

Identifying Features of Persuasive Texts

The use of effective language is very important in persuasive texts because the writer can
engage and persuade the audience, elaborate and link ideas/arguments and reasons.
Persuasive texts need to make a point, or convince readers to believe in an idea or
opinion and to do an action. The writer may use a title that is bold, inspiring or
controversial. You must engage the reader and their emotions so that they want to keep
on reading.
