LANDSLIDES AND THEIR CAUSES

Landslides are a natural event that often occurs in this country. Landslides often occur in
the slopes of the mountain, although it is not uncommon in other areas to also experience it. This
natural disaster can occur if there is movement of soil or rock so that it falls or collapses. There
are several causes of landslides. The first, happened because of the earthquake. Earthquakes
make the ground plates move because of the shards. If the soil structure is weak, it will trigger
landslides. Furthermore, there are also landslides that occur due to high rainfall but low soil
absorption. This often occurs due to erosion due to excessive deforestation. As a result, the soil
becomes unstable and prone to landslides. From several events that already exist, it can be
concluded that landslides are very dangerous. In principle, landslides occur when the driving
force on the slope is greater than the force retainer. The resisting force is generally influenced by
the strength of the rock and the density of the soil. While the driving force is influenced by the
magnitude of the slope angle, water, load and specific gravity rock soil.
