Overall system
Oil (heating –cooling ) system in upper reactors
Oil (heating –cooling ) system in bottom reactors
1- ,, Solve the problem of temperature convenience :
ie : when the output heater temperature is so high , cannot
start new batch in other reactor

Theorical solution :
to decrease the temperature of the feed to the subjected reactor
(new batch)

tools to apply :

a- mixing chamber
b- heat exchanger

Now , I only discuss the mixing chamber

analytical discussion for the mixing chamber

my supposed sequence to to determine

the required mixing chamber capacity

1-determine the total oil hold up in coils , lines , hot oil tank ,
cooling oil tank
2- estimate the temperature of hot oil to be at 250 (max temp )
3- estimate the quantity of the hot oil to be cooled down for all
the belongings of two reactor coils
4- calculating the estimated oil required to be in the mixing
chamber
1- thermal oil hold up

we need to calculate the thermal oil hold up in all lines , coils ,

heating oil tank
cooling oil tank
roughly calculation (not solid calculation )

1- each coil capacity for all the reactor (0.5 barrel : 1 barrel ) or
(100 kg : 200 kg )

2- as shown in figures , the lines (some with diameter =1 inch ,

others with 3 inch )
and the total length of factory from side to side (heaters to
farest point ) about 36 meters
3- the two tanks (cooling +heating ) about 2 cubic meter

4- The total quantity can be approximately estimated as (

1.25 cu.m for reactor coils - 0.25 cu.m for lines - 2 cu.m for the
two tank
Total quantity = 3.5 cubic meter
This is the estimated total quantity in the whole cycle
time to suggest solutions
After approximately defining the problem

- Solution

Fitting mixing chamber like shown

The tools that we need
As shown in figure:

1-Mixing chamber (tank with good metal properties )

2-Low capacity pump (20- 30 ) cubic meter /hr

3-Distributor & valve

4-Two temperature sensors (mix ch outlet , return)

5- The calculation will be shown in the other file
