RailWire Wifi is now available at Baramula,

10 June 2021: Oxygen Expresses crossed mark

Nation. So far, Indian Railways has delivered
nearly 28473 MT of LMO in more than 1648
tankers to various states across the country. It
may be noted that 401 Oxygen Expresses have
completed their journey so far and brought
relief to various States.

1 June 2021: Freight figures continue to
maintain the high momentum in terms of
earnings and loading in the month of May 2021
for Indian Railways.

MAY 2021
On mission mode, Indian Railways’ Freight
made highest ever loading for the month of
May. In May 2021 it is 114.8 MT which is 9.7%
more than May 2019 (104.6 MT) for the same
period.
The important items transported during May
2021 includes 54.52 million tonnes of Coal,
15.12 million tonnes of Iron Ore, 5.61 million
tonnes of Foodgrains, 3.68 million tonnes of
Fertilizers, 3.18 million tonnes of Mineral Oil,
5.36 million tonnes of Cement (excluding
clinker) and 4.2 million tonnes of Clinker.
In the month of May 2021, Indian Railways
earned Rs. 11604.94 crores from freight
loading. Wagon Turn around time has seen an
improvement of 26% in this month. In May,
2021, wagon turn around time is registered at
4.81 days as compared to 6.46 in May 2019.
31 May 2021: Internet-based video
surveillance systems have been installed at
269 railway stations in 10 zones and these can
store footage for 30 days.
31 May 2021: 321 Oxygen Expresses have
delivered over 21,939 MT of Oxygen across
India
30 May 2021: Railways has delivered more
than 21, 392 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen
to 15 states across the country and so far 392

23 May 2021: Oxygen Express continues to
provide relief to COVID-19 patients, delivered
more than 15,284 MT of medical oxygen
across India.
22 May 2021: Oxygen Expresses deliver nearly
14500 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen in more
than 884 tankers by 224 Oxygen Expresses to
the Nation. 8 loaded Oxygen Expresses on run
with more than 563 MT of LMO in 35 tankers.
22 May 2021: Indian Railway Statistics (As of
21.05.2021) In this fiscal year 2021-22, Indian
Railways surpassed the loading figures of the
year 2020 & 2019 that is 185.04 MT (2021
year) compared to 116.1 MT (2020 year) and
167.66 MT (2019 year) which shows the
growth of 59.38 % & 10.37 % respectively. In
this period, Indian Railways earned Rs.
18542.8 crores from freight loading. It is 4.92%
higher than the year 2019 earning from freight
which was Rs. 17674 Crores & 75.93% higher
than the year 2020 (Rs 10540.1) for the same
period.
On mission mode, Indian Railways’ Freight
loading for the month of May 2021 crossed
2019 & 2020 year’s loading and earnings for
the same period. Coal sector has shown a
sustained growth. Indian Railways loaded
88.15 MT Coal in this FY 2021-22 which is a
growth of 54.03% compared to the last year
2020 (57.23 MT) and 1.39% compared to the
year 2019 loading (86.94 MT). In the month of

May 2021 (till date), Indian Railways loading
was 73.45 million tonnes which is 44.99%
higher compare to last year’s loading for the
same period (50.66 million tonnes). It is 10.27%
higher than the year 2019 loading figures
(66.61 MT) for the same period.
Indian Railways loading was 73.45 million
tonnes which includes 35.62 million tonnes of
coal, 9.77 million tonnes of iron ore, 3.38
million tonnes of foodgrains, 2.22 million
tonnes of fertilizers, 2.02 million tonnes of
mineral oil and 3.15 million tonnes of cement
(excluding clinker).
In May, 2021, Indian Railways earned Rs.
7368.00 Crores from freight loading which is
also 62.20% higher compared to last year’s
earnings for the same month (Rs. 4541.21
crores) & 4.93% higher compared to the year
2019 earning figures (Rs.7021.75 Crores) for
the same period.
20 May 2021: Around 200 Oxygen Express
trains have completed their journey so far,
delivering nearly 12,630 MT of Oxygen across
India.
19 May 2021: Indian Railways has so far
delivered nearly 11,800 Metric Tonnes of
Liquid Medical Oxygen in more than 727
tankers to 13 States across the country. States
are- Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra,
Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan,
Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Telangana, Punjab,
Kerala, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. 196 Oxygen
Expresses have completed their journey so far.
19 May 2021: Railways’ says all 86 of its
COVID hospitals to soon have oxygen plants of
their own.
18 May 2021: Oxygen Express has delivered
the biggest single day load of more than 1,000
MT Oxygen & provided over 11,030 MT of
Oxygen to 13 States across India.
18 May 2021: 10 COVID Care Coaches were
placed at the New Tinsukia Railway station in
Assam.

18 May 2021: CONCOR has taken an initiative
to boost exports by reducing rail freight tariff
by 50% for movement of empty containers
from gateway ports to CONCOR ICDs/Private
Sidings/CRTs. This discount is extended for full
FY 2021-22 to facilitate availability of
containers & reduce costs.
17 May 2021: Oxygen Express has delivered
over 10,300 MT of medical Oxygen to various
states across India as of 17 May 2021.
16 May 2021: Oxygen Express has provided
over 9,440 MT Oxygen to 13 States. Nearly
150 Oxygen Express trains have completed
their journey so far.
16 May 2021: First Oxygen Express to Punjab
with 41MT (2 tankers) of medical oxygen left
Bokaro, Jharkhand.
16 May 2021: Railways achieved a major
milestone with completion of 800m tunnelling
in East-West Kolkata Metro Corridor. This will
facilitate extension from Phoolbagan to
Howrah Maidan, reduce travel time & enhance
connectivity for all passengers.
16 May 2021: The first Oxygen Express to
Kerala has reached Ernakulam from
Kalinganagar with medical Oxygen for
COVID19 patients in the State.
15 May 2021: Railways has commissioned
WiFi at six thousand Railway stations in five
years. With the commissioning of Wi-Fi at
Hazaribagh Railway station in Jharkhand on
15th May, Indian Railways commissioned Wi-Fi
at six thousand Railway stations. Railways have
started its Journey by providing Wi-Fi facility
at 1st Railway station Mumbai in January
2016.
15 May 2021: The first Oxygen Express to
Kerala started its journey with 118 metric
tonnes of medical Oxygen to boost Oxygen
supply for COVID-19 patients in the State.
14 May 2021: The first Oxygen Express to
Nellore, Andhra Pradesh has started its
journey from Durgapur with Oxygen for
COVID-19 patients.

7 May 2021: European Investment Bank (EIB)
on Friday committed second tranche of 150
million euros (about Rs 1,335 crore) for Pune
Metro Rail project. The agreement to this
effect was signed by K Rajaraman, Additional
Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs,
Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the
Government of India (GoI) and Christian Kettel
Thomsen Vice President, EIB.
5 May 2021: The Railways has made a fleet of
nearly 4000 Isolation coaches with almost
64000 beds to serve as Isolation Units.
3 May 2021: French rolling stock manufacturer
Alstom has manufactured and supplied the
100th fully electric high-powered
doublesection locomotive to Indian Railways.
Alstom will be delivering around 800 electric
locomotives of 12,000 HP under the contract
of around $4.22bn (€3.5bn), which it secured in
2015.
In May 2020, the first Prima T8TM WAG-12B
locomotive commenced commercial services.
APRIL 2021
30 April 2021: French rolling stock major
Alstom has rolled out its 100th electric
locomotive manufactured at its Madhepura
factory in Bihar. As part of a Rs 25,000 crore
order bagged by Alstom in 2015, the company
is to supply 800 e-locos to the Indian Railways
over a period of 11 years.
28 April 2021: The Rail Land Development
Authority (RLDA) has invited bids for leasing of
three sites to develop Multi-Functional
Complexes (MFC) at Bellary, Sikar and
Bharatpur Railway Stations for 45 years.
9 April 2021: Rakesh Singh appointed as
Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail
Corporation (BMRCL) Namma Metro.
5 April 2021: The construction of the arch of
the world’s highest railway bridge that soars
359 metres above the bed of the Chenab river

5 April 2021. 5 April 2021: Logistics major
CMA CGM Group on Monday said it has
received the first ever block train from Mundra
to Sanand in Gujarat jointly with Hasti Petro
Chemical and Shipping. A block train is a cargo
locomotive used for goods transport. This new
service is the first block train by a shipping line
between Mundra and inland container depot
(ICD) Sanand.
5 April 2021: The National Institute of
Technical Teachers’ Training and Research,
Bhopal has developed a ‘Multifunctional
Railway Track Scavenging Vehicle’.
1 April 2021: The steam engine of the first
passenger train that plied between Mumbai
and Thane in 1853 will be installed at Thane
railway station premises.

3 Mar 2021: MTRC system commissioned in
trains for the first time in India.

FEBRUARY 2021
1 Feb 2021: The Railways finances were
presented by the Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala
Sitharaman along with the Union Budget 2021-
22 with revenue estimated at Rs 2,17,460
crore which is an annual increase of 12% over
2019-20.
The National Rail Plan 2030 has been prepared
for infrastructure development. Under the
plan, the following dedicated freight corridors
projects will be undertaken: (i) East Coast
Corridor from Kharagpur to Vijayawada, (ii)
East-West Corridor from Bhusaval to
Kharagpur to Dankuni, and (iii) North-South
Corridor from Itarsi to Vijayawada.
Railways will monetise dedicated freight
corridor assets for operation and maintenance.
High-density networks and highly utilised
network routes will be provided with an
indigenously developed automatic train
protection system that eliminates train
collision due to human error.
