According to the 5E model ‘Experiment to show that Oxygen is released during

the Photosynthesis.’
• Engagement
✓ Give an article about photosynthesis for one of the student to
read Infront of the classroom.
✓ Ask few questions related to the process of photosynthesis to
understand the previous knowledge of the students.
eg: what is photosynthesis?
What gas is released during photosynthesis?
✓ Students are divided into four groups.
✓ All groups are supplied with material to set up the experiment.
✓ Students are instructed on how to record observation in the data
sheet.

• Exploration
✓ Students are shown how to set the apparatus to prove that
Oxygen is released during photosynthesis. Students have to
observe and count the number of bubbles released at an interval
of 3 minutes.
✓ Students try to set up the experiment.
✓ Ask students to note down the initial level of water in the test
tube.
✓ Ask to observe the release of bubbles and note down the number
of bubbles with an interval of 3 minutes and note the number of
bubbles released during the process.
✓ Ask students to note down the final level of water in the test tube.
• Explanation
✓ Ask the leaders of each group about their observation and each
leader gives observation of their group Infront of the classroom.
▪ The initial level of the water in the test tube.
▪ The number of bubbles released at an interval of 3
minutes.
▪ The final level of water in the inverted test tube.

• Elaboration
✓ Give chance for students to express their ideas and the questions
about the one’s experiment.
✓ Ask a few questions from each group to expand the knowledge of
them.
▪ Why Hydrilla plants are used in experiment?
▪ They are aquatic plants and can do photosynthesis inside
the water?
✓ Explain and discuss with students which they can’t answer or not
clear about the experiment.

• Evaluation
✓ According to the data collected by the students and the
discussion.
✓ According to the oral answers given by the student in each group.
