the applied loads. Values shown have not been reduced by
selfweight which should be included in the applied load.
Example: A L20510040 section as a beam spanning 5.0m
restrained only at the ends will support a load of 44.63 kN. Given a L30020040
load factor of 1.6 the service limit state value is 44.63/1.6 = 27.89
kN this compares with the deflection limit of L/250 which gives a 2 x flange width
capacity of 27.78kN, from which the deflection would be 20.1mm

deflection can be calculated from the ratio of the SLS value to the
tabulated value for the deflections noted (27.78/41.97)x250 = 165,

Infill Gable Post

Single Post

Gable posts
Multichannel4 can be used as an infill gable post (to facilitate a
future gable extension) where a full portal frame is provided at
the gable.
The Multichannel4 infill posts can be used as single or
compound members dependent upon the load applied and
the required deflection limits.
The posts attach to the underside of the rafter using a single
plate cleat (supplied by others). Base cleats for attachment to
the slab or foundations can be supplied pre-assembled to the
Multichannel4 posts.

100 Single and compound Multichannel4 posts can be supplied

with side rail cleats, restraint brackets and base cleats pre-
50 assembled in the factory to minimise site work and promote
rapid erection. Alternatively a kit of parts is available for full
assembly on the site.
Multichannel4 infill posts are not suitable for free standing
application (including during erection) and must be placed
between self supporting main beams and the foundations for
stability.

Multichannel4 can be used as primary or secondary supports

for Multideck-V2 composite deck in short spans. Multideck-V2
should be fixed to the Multichannel4 beams using suitable
selfdrill self tapping screws or shot fired nails. At least 2 fixings
per trough should be used (one into each flange of the
compound Multichannel4 beams). Use of single Multichannel4
is not recommended for supporting Multideck-V2.
Multichannel4 columns
Multichannel4 can be used as columns supporting
Multichannel4 floor beams. All column supported floors must
be adequately braced. Guidance is available from the
Kingspan Structural Products Technical Team.
